Sarver was being criticized for not being involved. Can't have it both ways.

General Manager Ryan McDonough said you were in a “banking meeting” and took all the shots, standing in front of a crush of cameras, microphones and lights. “I get paid a lot of money to sit here and get interrogated by you guys,” he said.

McDonough said he recommended replacing Earl Watson. But, Robert, it’s your team, so you had to sign off, right?

I am no Robert Sarver fan, but this guy's premise is that Watson should not have been fired. WATSON SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED SOONER! I know the players like him. But they will like Triano too, especially when he actually starts teaching basketball.

My interest in the article was the writer (I posted) said Sarver was not personally involved in the firing and puts it all on McDonough.

Where Watson paints a picture that Sarver personally fired him. Two different scenarios entirely.

I know it's par for the course to complain about Sarver and maybe McD, but I've had it a little bit with Triano now. The Solar Panel podcast made a great point about how our highest minute guys outside of Warren and Booker are the vets. Using advanced stats, EVERY single minute that Bender is on the floor, our defensive rating improves substantially--always netting a positive rating vs. the offensive numbers. Why isn't he starting, or at least getting more than 17 minutes a game? Troy Daniels played 31 MINUTES against Minnesota.

I can see playing Monroe to try to up his value, but if we're going to lose anyway, why not play Chriss and Bender more? Chandler and even now Dudley are getting more minutes than either of them! That's unacceptable to me.

And Mike James scoring 26 points does nothing whatsoever for helping this team. He's not a long-term solution for anything, heck, if we're losing, he's not a short-term answer either.

Now, I don't know if this is a directive from Sarver to play the vets more minutes--I suppose that's possible, but gotta be HIGHLY unlikely. And McD telling Triano to do that seems out of character as well, what with all the talk about timelines. If that is also the case, then Triano is doing all this on his own and there is no conceivable reason why.

I think there is a good chance that Monroe is being showcased for a trade sometime in December after all last summer's signees are eligible to be traded.

In a recent article, Triano said that he is happy with Bender's play and really likes the chemistry he has with the second unit, and that why he is not starting, though Triano has considered it.

I don't really much care about starting, it's the number of minutes that concerns me the most.

Yeah. Chriss and Bender should be playing a ton of minutes.

The first question should be: do we have a reasonable chance of making the playoffs this year? Once that's a no (and you'd have to be daft to think it's a yes), it's about preparing for the future.

None of the vets are good enough to be rotation players on a winning team 2-3 years from now except maybe Monroe, Len, and Warren.

Chandler will be too old. Monroe likely leaves at the end of the year if not traded. Dudley doesn't move the needle. James is awful. Len is probably gone.

Ulis could turn out to be a nice back-up.

So that means the players on the Suns that really matter are:

1. Devin Booker
2. Josh Jackson
3. Dragan Bender
4. Marquese Chriss
5. TJ Warren

Booker is on track to be a star. We need one of the other four to become a star, plus to nail down a star in the upcoming draft, free agency, or through trade. If the other three don't become stars, we need at least one to be a viable player, and preferably two.

Nice role players are a necessity, but they need to be fits with your best players. We don't know who those players are yet, so let's focus on the players who have a chance to eventually make a difference for this team, not Greg Monroe and Tyson Chandler.

I think TJ is a viable player already. Unless he develops his shot, he is not going to be a star, but he is a viable player right now. I am pretty sure Chriss is not going to be a star. I don't think he has work ethic, basketball IQ, or the heart to be a star. I like the other two a lot, and I would be surprised if they don't become viable players. Not sure about either one of them being a star, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

The Suns need to hit on at least a couple of players big time in the upcoming draft if Jackson, Bender, Chriss and Warren are not those star players.
