Let me preface by saying that I'm not ref blaming, as this team certainly has a number of deficiencies which need to be corrected. This is a global assessment of the situation.

Hochuli's crews have been less than stellar for a while now. He was regarded as one of the best and then had that blown call in Denver, in which he admitted his mistake and the fact that he could not reverse his own call. Then there was the Cam Newton situation, in which Hochuli told him that he was "too young" to receive the benefit of the doubt on 50/50 calls.

This game is an indication of how far this official and his crew have fallen in the past few years. There were a number of blown calls and calls that were made when the right move would've been to keep the flag in the pocket.

I'm very disappointed in how AZ played, but equally disappointed in how Hochuli's officiating crew set the tone for this game early on.

One example: on the first Bryant TD, it appeared as if he had one foot down and his butt touched the chalk. Close call, right? Well, instead of taking the time to review, they just go straight for the 2-point conversion.

Close calls like that merit the full 60 seconds to make sure it's the right call.

Definitely agree. I cam 100% certain that if that were a Cardinal TD, the review would've happened...

Again not blaming the refs for the loss

But holding the jersey of Floyd with the ref standing right there in the endzone is inexcusable

Just wish the games would be called fair for both teams. If you are not calling holding them make it the same for both teams. If you are calling it then make it for both teams. Refs should not affect the outcome a game, but too many times they do.

Wouldn't that call come from the league office in NY tho TJ? I thought they have to tell the officials to review the call. Either way, the officiating sucked today and I suspect it's for reasons much larger than Hoculi or his crew.

It was a TD but should've been reviewed anyway. There is no excuse for it not being reviewed.

The roughing call in the end zone was garbage and more of just anticipating a hard tackle. The should've been punting from their end zone with a chance to have great field position. Still forced a punt but IIRC threw a pick on the first play.

The game is so fast that it's impossible to get every call right but the issue once again comes down to resources. NFL officiating shouldn't be a part time job.

Hochuli has gone out of his way to make himself bigger than the game itself for awhile now. He needs to be fired.

The calls go to NY, but not initiated by the office.

Unless I missed a rule change this year all TD's are automatically reviewed. As are all TO's and any questionable plays at the 2:00 mark of each half.

There was no clear review of that. Even the broadcasters were wondering if they were gonna check it.

Refs definitely sucked this game and did change the flow and gave the Steelers an unfair advantage. I agree with those who say we should have won anyway but if the game was called correctly the Cards would have won IMO. Floyd would have had what, 2 more TD's?

I don't think the HR goes under the hood as it would take forever after every score but they are reviewed in some way.

I'm the first to want to take the refs to the woodshed when they screw us, but this is kind of embarrassing to even bring the refs into the discussion on this loss. So they missed a tug on the shirt that didn't affect whether that ball was going to be caught so you're asking the refs to bail out our bad play by throwing a flag. Yes, there were holds not called, there ALWAYS are on both sides. So what if they didn't review a TD that was clearly a TD. They showed the replay like 5 times before they set the ball and they all clearly showed it was a TD without question so why would they waste anymore time. The refs were the least of the problems in this game. The D played well enough to give us a chance to win. Not stellar, but also not bad enough to cost us the game especially if you discount the penalties. This game was lost on the offense. We are so used to the D bailing this team out it is easy to forget without the D scoring or giving us TOs this offense cannot carry their own weight week in and out.

That tug on the shirt helped propel the DB into MF and allowed him to knock the ball out. Plus TUGGING on a WR's shirt is a PENALTY.

How many holding calls were made on the Steelers Oline? one or none.

I'm not going to list all the horrific calls, it was an unfair amount.

I think it would have been tough to overturn that call in Pittsburgh, but I see how you can say it was clearly a touchdown. He get the 1 foot clearly and bounds, but the only other part of his body to come down inbounds was his but… half of it. The other half was out of bounds. I think if they call that out of bounds in the first place they are far less likely to overturn in favor of a touchdown than the other way around. I saw it a couple times on the replay, but maybe I missed something there.

All you need is one foot and a shin or knee. If two of those things touch inbounds the butt doesn't matter.

I'm sick & tired of all the bs calls the Steelers have received & today was no exception. Regardless of some poor play on out part, the officiating kept the Steelers in the game & gave them hope. That BLATANT tug & subsequent pass interference on Floyd would have given us the ball on the 1. Instead, we had to settle for a fg. Am I blaming the officiating for this loss. You bet your bottom I am. Am I still disappointed in Palmer's play? Absolutely!!!

His shin or knee never came into play. Was his butt in, that's the only issue. Should have been replayed in slow motion. Whenever the Steelers are outplayed at home, the officiating come to the rescue. I've seen it for over 50 years now. Disgusting!!!

It was a clear TD by the rule. That's not debatable. The issue is the refs not reviewing it.

It wasn't a CLEAR TD by any means and to not review it was even worse! If that were the cardinals scoring in this same game it would have been reviewed and probably overturned cause of one foot in and ass out of bounds guaranteed!

It's only debatable because it was never reviewed. There's no way that it was as crystal clear as your making it out to be.
