How many of the starters in the Super Bowl for the Steelers were rookies or or guys in their first year with Pittsburgh?
There is a huge difference between playing rookies and replacing a vet with a guy who has been on your team for 2-3 years. That is all this is about. A debate about whether "plug and play" works especially if you are plugging in young players. Its not about whether Hood or LaBoy specifically should have been released.
BTW: Seems to me the Cards still have had a problem getting plays in on time under Whisenhunt.
Eh, a few rookies, but honestly their 2008 draft wasnt very good. Sweed and Mendenhall saw significant time before Mendy's injury.
I do agree with your assestment about rookies vs 2-3 year players. I dont feel like Hood was cut to be replaced by a rookie though. Thats the disconnect. MCFadden and Brown will take over Hood's spot. Both can be as productive, if not more so, than Hood.
