This show needs to be about 3 or 4 minutes longer per episode.

Drama is a freaking idiot, and I love him for it.

this show seems to be hitting it's stride again after a rocky start to the season. The whole Amanda story line just didn't work because a) she sucked and wasn't a good enough foil for Ari and b) because it was inevitable that Ari and Vince were going to get back together.

now, the show's dynamic is back and they're giving each character (except for E) something interesting to do. I almost fell off the couch when Turtle almost gave up his real name. It's as if I didn't even realize he had a real name.

solid return to form for the show in the last couple episodes.

You know, where it picked up just a few weeks ago wasn't the start to the season :)

It was finishing the season. Next weekend is the season finale, then two weeks later, season four starts.

Good premier I thought...I liked the documentary style they did...

Finally Medellin is over with...at least, the making.

Loved Drama in this, he's so funny.

The song they used at the end of season 3 really cracked me up. That's the same song that played during "The Jesus" bowling scene in The Big Lebowski. (The spanish version of Hotel California)

Season 4 started out great, they didn't miss a beat.

I really liked being on set for the first time in this show. medellin isn't over yet because Walsh is a nutcase and will sit on the film because he hates the cut or something.

Has anyone ever seen 1.5 hour documentary on Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys? I swear this is what this last episode was based on. Gilliam nearly had several severe breakdowns on the set. Watching the editing was like watching someone make soup from scraps.

if you liked that, you'd LOVE "Lost in La Mancha" - the doc done by the same director's on the colassal failure that was Gilliam's Don Quixote film, starring Johnny Depp. As a guy with some film-making experience, I literally felt like crying for Gilliam watching that film.

Thanks for the tip! Also loved the doc on David O. Russell on the making of Three Kings. I saw it after watching Spanking the Monkey, so I had ... expectations of something interesting. Sure enough, someone took a swing at someone important. Fun stuff!

I have friends who went on to film careers ... one has done dozens of commercials, others are gaffers, etc. It's crazy how much money there is to be made just by being on the crew, and you get some great stories to tell around the bar room. As a writer, I've kept four or five completed screenplays to myself for years now, not because I'm afraid of rejection, but because I'm afraid someone might be dumb enough to buy one. I don't think I could handle that type of emotionally unstable environment!

Another great episode...loved Drama and Turtle...so hilarious.

The Medellin project is kind of fun to watch...while the show has been funny and all the side plots are great...I really enjoy the movie-making aspect of it myself.

Prediction: The movie is going to be a huge hit at Cannes, maybe win an award, they'll sell the movie to Harvey, and then it will become a huge box office bust.

It's got freakin' subtitles. Eric thinks it's slow. It's about a violent history in a Spanish-speaking country. Sounds like John Sayles' Men with Guns.

Never heard of that movie, but you may be on to something!

Billy is definitely a composite of other directors. I was using Men with Guns as an example. Sayles is very reserved and has made some moderately successful movies like Eight Men Out and Lone Star. His movies are usually paced at a trot, though.

I've been trying to pin down who Billy is based on. I think they may have gone heavy on the Tim Burton with a good dash of PT Anderson.

BTW, they're making a movie about Search Bloc and the hunt for Escobar.

this show has lost it's way IMO.

Curious to your thoughts on that. It's getting interesting to me. No more big comfy house ... and the idea of Vince placing $100,000 bets with Dennis Hopper on soccer while his bank account is empty sounds exactly like the surreal life of Hollywood actor to me. Eric's transformation into a stereotypical producer seems very real.

i just feel like it's flat... and predictable... and it's mini-seasons within each episode, if that makes any sense. And as much as I love Drama and Turtle, they're getting stale and it was blatantly obvious to me that Turtle was going to end up with Billie from Days of Our Lives. There was just no way that Drama was going to actually the get the girl of his dreams and Turtle was gonna have to jump on the grenade. and what happened to Turtle's girl they set up last season? That actually looked like it could be something interesting. And what happened to Drama's TV show?

i also feel like we've been there done that with Harvey and I think Ari and Lloyd have been severly underwritten so far this season.

I'll agree with you on Drama and Turtle. They've been turned into cheap comic fodder when things get to heavy with the Vince story line. I don't think they quite know what to do with Ari just yet. It's hard to make that character go any place but where he's already been.

Maybe they've just run out of ideas for the ensemble cast? If I were on the writing team, I'd probably point out that Drama has it a little too easy. If that's where they want him to stay, they at least need to draw out the cheeziness of what he does and how Hollywood loves to reward that. And Turtle just needs more angst in his life. Maybe focus on his insecurities that his other three friends are successful and he's the Kato Kaelin of the group.

I suspect they're heading towards putting Vince in the middle of an Ari/Eric feud. Eric is definitely starting to get a little too cocky with his newfound success.
