The “better than Aaron Donald if not for injuries” posts is just 1 of the reasons why.
He wasn't Donald good, no, but healthy Swann was combination explosive interior pass rusher and an immovable object. He was a monster. Most physically imposing lineman I've ever seen.

We never signed him traded him to Seattle(we did get a future #1 pick back no idea who we took).
The Seahawks gave the Cardinals a 1st (1989) and two 5th round picks (1988 and 1989) for Stouffer!

The Cards' 1988 5th (#132 overall) was RB Tony Jordan.
Their 1989 1st (#17 overall) was G Joe Wolf. (The Cards also picked LB Eric Hill with their own 1st round pick at #10 and QB Timm Rosenbach with a 1st round pick in the supplemental draft, which i believe cost them their 1990 1st round pick.)
Their 1989 5th (#128 overall) was DE David Edeen.

Wolf was pretty good. Hill was pretty good. Rosenbach I liked but the injury derailed his career.

No recollection of Edeen.

If this Board was in existence when Swann was drafted, it would have exploded. How could they do that? The GM must be replaced, ASAP. And that would have been two of the milder comments. JMO.
I remember he came from some little small school in Massachusetts if memory serves me correctly? Like a Div 2 school. I'd definitely never heard of it at that time. Actually no, he played semi pro ball in Massachusetts.

Loved Eric Hill #58. He was a badass LB.

I remember us picking Swann like it was yesterday. I follow the draft more than I follow the SB, so I had heard all about his potential. Knowing how inept Bill Bidwill was, I had already told all my friends that we would pick this kid at 6. As much as I disliked Bidwill, I was fine with this pick. I remember my phone ringing off the hooks after that pick. And yes, phones then actually set on hooks! The Stauffer pick is the one that pissed me off the most. That, and the Duncan pick. Ok, there were SO MANY picks in those days that pissed me off. I guess that’s why I laugh at people on this board that criticize Keim’s picks. His picks are 1000x better than what I grew up watching.
I agree on the picks during those years but Keim is still clueless in the draft lol. What kills me is he can't draft on OL to save his ass & he was an OL at NC. ST lol.
