Good news, everyone!

ESPN Scouts said:
Despite not having the GM title, former coach Dennis Green had final say in personnel decisions. Although Green's teams struggled on the field, he left the Cardinals' roster with a lot of solid young football players. New coach Ken Whisenhunt would be wise to follow Green's lead and not leave it to VP Rod Graves to acquire his talent for him. Graves watches very little tape and does not have a good feel for free agency or the draft, as evidenced by his track record in acquiring players before Green's arrival. Green's departure and a new three-year extension for Graves likely will shift authority back to the front office.

Who's excited for draft day?

That is some demoralizing news. Is there anyway to make Dennis Green the GM. Maybe he would excell in this position.

I doubt the front office watches much tape either. Understandable why we haven't had much draft success pre DG.

:bang: I miss DG ... Anyone out there that feels the same way. I don't miss his game day coaching, but the draft and free agency part are where we need him. To bad we could not make him a GM over Graves.

It might be fun, but there's pretty solid chance that I'm going to be throwing up before all is said and done.

Why don't we give Whiz at least one draft, before we start harping about Graves and missing Denny?

Would that really be to much to ask for? To actually wait until after something happens to declare it a disaster?

That could be the best analogy I have ever read about the Cards draft.

I love draft day. I love all the analysis. I love all the "report cards". I love how hardly anyone pays attention to how the players panned out four years later.

Pro football? I wish it were a year-'round sport.

Games:August thru first week of Feburary.

Free Agency:Starts in March

Draft: End of April

Training Camp: Starts End of June to beginning of July.

The NFL is smart and has turned the game into a game that is followed all year long.

And as we all know ESPN is the be all and end all of knowledge when it comes to the Cardinals front office and we should take everything they say as gospel truth. As a matter of fact, anyone who has anything at all bad to say about Rod Graves can only be telling the gospel truth.

Why wait until the draft. There's no way this team can have a decent draft so we may as well give up right now and throw in the towel. The Cardinal front office will screw this up just like they did when the hired Wiz and Grimm.:sarcasm:

So it really is to much to ask for something to actually happen before declaring it a disaster.

That's some f'ed up logic right there.

Have you not paid any attention to the drafts from years 1990-2003?

14 years of ineptitude will make anyone have doubts. Since we know that Green was in control of our drafts, it is not hard to see why some would want his expertise around during draft time.

My logic is the event happened when Graves got a 3 year extension and was put in charge of all football decisions. That was the disaster. Hiring Whiz was , of course we don't know yet, assumed to be a good move. But player personnel-wise,since the end of last season, the decisions have been pretty much awful. We have no starting quality tackles, no starting quality OLB, one unproven TE,more money tied up the C position than,i'm guessing, every other team in the NFL,and let a valuable commodity walk away for nothing. BUt you're right, i'll wait for something bad to happen before i make a judgement or declare it a disaster

I'm talking about the draft. This thread is talking about the draft. The draft hasn't happened yet. Wait until it does to declare it a disaster.

Yeah, let's treat this like we did hurricane Katrina. There were plenty of warnings that the levee's would collapse when the storm hit, but it wasn't officially a diaster until after the storm.

Useless rhetoric.
