The top three you listed were all very good receivers.

I called Plummer a dirtbag, because he was a dirtbag player. He even admitted when he left that he never watched film. He failed to prepare, so he prepared to fail. All of us spent our money and time on that guy and he didn't care enough to do what it took to succeed.
Very good? Decent but not very good and certainly none are comparable to Fitz not by a long shot. Boston had 1 great year and 1 good year and was out of football within a few years. And if Plummer was such a dirtbag player how do you explain his record in Denver which was 39-15 in 4 years?

You're right when it comes to offensive weapons but give Palmer's Cardinals Plummer's offensive line and defense and we'd be counting rings right now.

Am I on ignore on this thread? Plummer's defenses were garbage! Palmer's defenses are awesome! Is this real life right now?

Plummer's defenses were garbage? What planet are you on? Give the Cards this defensive line and LB corp:

Eric Swann(when healthy)
Simeon Rice
Mark Smith
Andre Wadsworth(when healthy)
Jamir Miller
Ronald McKinnon

The only weakness that defense had was in the secondary. Chavous was the only decent player in that secondary but the front 7 was one of the best this franchise ever saw, when healthy.

Wow recency bias much? David Boston still has the cardinals single season yardage record. For a few seasons he was a beast. Rob Moore had a season or two that rank among the best receiving seasons any Cardinal has had. Frank Sanders would likely be the second best receiver on the 2017 Arizona Cardinals.

Plummer was forced to change his habits by Mike Shanahan. He had a great running game and defense, but the Broncos realized that Plummers deficiencies would always keep them from winning the big game.

Year | Yardage Rank | Scoring Rank | DVOA Rank
1997 | 29 | 25 | 26
1998 | 11 | 24 | 26
1999 | 30 | 27 | 22
2000 | 30 | 30 | 30
2001 | 18 | 22 | 31
2002 | 27 | 29 | 32

At some point a good defense has to show up somewhere on the stat sheet, right? Like if it was REALLY good, it would have looked average at some point?

That was a miss on my part as he was the secondary. I do have to agree with kerouac that the defense should have put up better numbers but when you look at the talent that was one of the best defenses this franchise has ever seen with most of it being put together in the draft. I can't imagine how good they could have been but because of injuries and the team breaking them up we'll never know.

So then his problem, then, was coaching wouldn't you agree? I mean how could he have simply changed under another coach? Better coaching maybe?

:lmao:
But, it seemed as though more often than not, he would never make it to 4th down, as he would throw an INT instead....
:bang:
...dave
SIX PACK!

(Didn't he throw six interceptions in a single game once? Or was that Stan gelbaugh?)

What team did we have around Plummer v the teams we've had around Palmer? 'Nough said. It's more an indictment of the QBs we've had than saying Plummer was that good, but he led us to our first playoff win in forever and was the defining character of the Cardiac Cards. Palmer couldn't take an elite team to the SB.

I agree with Stout. Palmer was given far more weapons & just couldn't take ANY team to the SB. We will not get to the promised land until Palmer is gone.
