According to various, unsubstantiated reports the Ravens have made an offer to the Arizona Cardinals for Anquan Boldin. According to John Clayton of ESPN, the offer is the Ravens first round pick and Todd Heap.

Likely or no?

I do not...maybe if it was Heap a first this year and a guaranteed first day pick next year.

All I know is that when I said two years ago that Boldin would be a Raven before he retired everyone said I was a moron. This team has been pining for him for some time now.

first and heap? yes i would do that. id rather have todd heap than a 3rd rounder that could be spent on another buster davis. just find a way to get another 5th round pick for next year or something. I want another hightower or breaston!

I like under two maybe three conditions. The Ravens throw in a 2010 pick which would be based on how healthy Heap is in 2009. He stays completely healthy we get a late round pick (6th,7th), he stays moderetly healthy we get an even better pick(4th/5th), he isnt healthy at all we get a really high pick(2nd/3rd).

Heap restructures his deal.

Wait until draft day to see if we even like a player @ #26 to make it worth while in the first place.

I think it goes back to the Steve Kiem quote..."We have our Ray Lewis - except he is on offense";)

That reminds me - Didn't you say Lavar Arrington said that most NFL'ers saw Q as the better WR the Fitz bar none?

I bet that has changed:)

Remember the game in Baltimore two years ago, cfmd, when Boldin caught the ball in the middle and blew away the safety and trotted into the end zone? No Raven player or coach or exec has ever forgotten that play.

Notice too how the Jets are in the picture as well...Rex Ryan did not forget, did he?

Take your time...it may be the first offer, but it won't be the last. Easy boys...
Heap's salary IS a concern! 6 mill per year is not cheap...
Eagles fans and admin are a little concerned now....they will be putting together that 1st and 3rd real soon.

I say no based on Heap's Salary numbers (if these are correct)

Cap charges: $6.367 million (2009), $6.767 million (2010), $7.367 million (2011).

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=Nfl&id=2218

I think that's too much money for Heap.

Those are his cap charges to the Ravens which include his pro rated bonus money. If traded Heap's bonus is on the Ravens dime just like Boldins remaining bonus would be on ares. We would only have to pay Heaps base salary or any bonus or incentive on his deal he hasnt yet reached(which he doesnt have any).

Heap would cost us - 2009: $3.6 million, 2010: $4 million, 2011: $4.6 million

Which basically is in the neighborhood of what Q's cap numbers would be for the next two years...so it's a wash salary cap wise.

The question is how much Heap has left in his tank. Last year the Ravens were expecting Heap to have a career year numbers wise in Cam Cameron's high voltage offense. Apparently, Heap was having trouble getting separation early in the year on his routes and then Cameron decided it was best to have him block most of the time to give rookie QB Joe Flacco maximum protection.

With a QB like Kurt Warner throwing to him, I think Heap could have one of his best years this year. He' not a great blocker, which might give Whiz pause, but he's got great hands and concentration.

I wonder if the Cardinals could ask the Ravens to add situational pass rushing OLB Barnes to the package and offer TE Leonard Pope (if need be) to sweeten the pot.

In fact, I would accept a Boldin for the #26 and Barnes.

Adding the pass rusher would allow the Cardinals to use the #26 and #31 picks in a variety of different ways.

If the idea of high flying offense for Cameron is throwing the ball the 3rd fewest time in the NFL then I would hate to see his slow down offense.

This draft has a lot of TE talent. I say no to the broken down Heap and yes to their 3rd.

Is Heap worth a third-rounder in a straight-up trade with that big salary? Not to me.

It was because he had a rookie at QB...and CC plays to the strengths of his personnel.

Because CC was so good at getting Antonio Gates the ball in SD, the Ravens thought Heap would put up big numbers. But CC had Brees and Rivers in SD.

Heap and a first? No. Rice and a first? Hell yeah. I like Heap, but I think we have plenty of injured and injury prone TEs on our roster.

The more I think about it, the more I want from Baltimore. Even if we were to get a thirdd from Baltimore, we're still getting a tad shorted in comparison to the Roy Williams deal. If this was the Jets we were talking or if the Ravens were picking 21st or 22 I'd be fine. 26th? I'm going to need more than Heap.

Exactly...if Wells or Moreno is sitting there, I pull the trigger.
