As far as I can see, we have two great receivers in Boldin and Fitzgerald. The problem is that they are carbon copies of one another. They are both possession receivers without blazing speed, that don't get much separation. I love both of these guys and would hate to see one of them go, but I believe there isn't room on the team for both. I think we need to get a tall, fast as hell, deep threat receiver who can actually get some separation from defenders. What does everyone think, and which one would you get rid of if forced?

Ftiz.

Boldin is the man.

But I do not agree that Boldin and Fitz are the same. Fitz is a jump higher then them to get the ball type while Boldin is more of a shake and bake YAC reciever.

BTW - Before you get your undies in a knot. Boldin can still shake and bake. It is hard to run with the ball when you got to jump 3 feet in the air to catch it in the first place. The perfect example of this was Boldin picking up 10 yards of a WR screen. He faked out the CB and when for 10 yards. THAT is how he SHOULD be used.

Boldin should be running over the middle, Fitz should be stretching the field, and Johnson should stay our 3 WR.

I think our WR positions are fine. But the use of the recievers, and the way they each play NEED to be tweaked.

Boldin NEEDS to get in a better rythm with his QB's. The better the ball is delivered to Q the more he can do with it.

Fitz NEEDS to start catching the ball at the absolute highest point he can. He could have had at least 2 more catches against the Niners if he timed his jump a little better and got to extend his arms higher in the air.

Johnson I feel is doing fine as a 3 WR and I was very please with him this year.

Finally I think our QB's should be using these WR more than Karl Williams, and Freddie Jones. I mean if you are going to key into one reciever why would you key in on Karl Williams and not Boldin or Fitz ?

Peace

Fitz and Boldin are future stars. BJ is a solid #3. Freddie Jones should be thrown off the highest building in PHX.

I say keep them both along with BJ.It's hard to tell what WR corp is like with the way the Qb's have been playing.Ben Roethlisberger, the greatest draft pick in NFL history according to some, has been doing ok with no real burners on the team. Ward is like Boldin and Plaxico is tall and lanky but not a real speed guy. Even Indy's team isn't loaded with what you would call burners. Wayne is the fastest but i don't think he's known as a pure deep threat. The thing with both those teams is they have a running game that the defense has to worry about.

Differences Between Q and Fitz

Differences between the 2 receivers are -

- Fitz is better going after high jump balls.

- Q is better going over the middle on dig routes and snagging lower thrown balls.

Problem is that this year, the Cards moved Q outside and too often have used him - like Fitz - to grab the high floaters instead of the low "possession" ones he grabbed so often last year.

Add to that McCown's difficulty throwing the high floaters accurately and with the right trajectory (I'm not sure whether this can be learned or whether it's considered to be an inborn knack).

I agree that Q is better going over the middle. If you noticed, we began to catch up when Boldin started catching passes over the middle. Why then has it seemed that our receivers have been glued to the sidelines? Playcalling has been questionable all year.

I think the main thing with the play calling is that Green/Wood don't trust the QB to make the throws over the middle. They know what they have and tried to limit turnovers.I think Navarre threw a little more over the middle ,like the TD to Jones, but he also threw about 25 picks in the 2nd half.

WR is one of the most solid positions on the Cardinals right now...

We could use a good punt return man however... Although Starks did ok (2 returns for 22 yards) yesterday after Green had the sh*** of Williams.

I think we all agree that we have some great wide receivers. I think we can also agree that they are not being used correctly. Whether that is Wood's fault or Green's it needs to be fixed. On a side note it was nice to see the Anquan from last year, yesterday. I, for one, have missed him.

I'm happy with both Fitz and Boldin. We need a strong arm qb to get them the ball and of course we need a strong blocking TE that can also catch.

Boldin and Fitz are not carbon copies of each other. I think Fitz is a better long ball WR, while Boldin is better on the crossing routes. I think it would be dumber than hell to get rid of either one this year. You have to consider Fitz was hobbled by injury during camp and early in the season, and Boldin missed a lot of work as well. I don't think we've seen this group even close to what they could be potentially, with the QB issues and injury issues.

Hopefully, they get all healed up over the offseason, and hit game 1 next year full speed. I think we'd see something pretty special.

Our WRs are fine

We are lucky to have Fitz, Boldin and Johnson. I don't but all that speed stuff, Rice in his prime ran a 4.5 in the forty tops. All our WRs run about a 4.5 and Boldin maybe just a 4.6 at the moment with his injury or without. Also some fail to forget they are young and are only going to get better, much better. We need linemen in the guard positions, a big DT and a runningback to spell Shipp.

Speaking of Rice, did anyone see the one catch where he faked to the outside and then ran an in route. Completely had the defender turned inside out. The guy still has something.

Our biggest problem is not having a QB who can get the ball to either one of them.
