Hey cheese, would you do Marion/Banks for AK and either Brewer/Milsapp. I think I would, for many reasons.

depending on AK's health... yeah. I think I might take the risk. Especially if we were able to get Brewer or Milsap. We fix our "chemistry issues", we get a shot blocker and defensive dynamo and added depth. but it's definitely a risk. if chemistry is that bad, you'd probably have to pull the trigger if you could get that kind of deal while also getting rid of banks.

Depends on how Peja plays for them this season I think.

NO management would definitely want to pair up Marion with Paul.

Marion becomes the legit second man option, with David West being the inside player at the PF spot. They'll have a hole in the middle. But Marion adds in a scoring capability that chandler doesnt have.

Again, if Peja starts to play well, I think they'll want to keep Chandler.

How about for Peja and David West?
Peja can play the SF/PF combo... and West can fill the PF/C spot... but defense is completely out the window...

Artest and Brad Miller works... Sac still remains exciting, playoff talks with Bibby/Martin/Marion/Thomas/Hawkes.

Also how does that Miami trade make sense?

Wright is a bust.
Williams is old and washed up.
Haslem gives us more toughness, but not much more length, not more rebounding and less of everything else.
2010 pick? sigh

Marion and Banks for Peja and Chandler, I probably wouldn't do this because Peja's contract is horrible and even if healthy he is not nearly as good as he once was.

I wouldn't really want to trade for Turiaf.

He is soon FA and I think he will bolt the Lakers for us anyway if we give him an offer.

He is very very close with Diaw.

I get the feeling that any post about Marion should automatically be put into the "Trade Forum". :p

I'm less hostile to the AK trade than many, even though I'm generally thought of as pro Marion guy. My read on it is that AK's whinning is due to how he's being used than just jeaolousy.

As for whether articles about Marion's whinning will make things worse, that seems unlikely. If anything, it may lead to his agent talking to him about how he's killing his future contract prospects. He needs to shut his trap if he wants more than an MLE.

How can he improve his reputation and get more respect?

1. Take fewer threes and hit what he shoots. 31% for three is just not acceptable.

2. Attack the basket and stop acting like he's going to get broken if someone fouls him. Take pride in getting to the line.

3. Pass the ball more and really try to get assists.

Marion always plays hard, but he doesn't always do what is needed.

SLAM online has a short little blurb about this, ripping Marion a new one and below in the comments section was probably the funniest thing I've seen all day. It simply read:

"Shawn Marion's angry this article wasn't longer."

That cracked me up.

Funny stuff.

The sad part is that Marion is not going to be the third option on offense. He'll be the fifth:

Stoudemire
Nash
Hill
Bell\Barbosa
Marion

Yet he'll still get upwards of 20 ppg because of the way the Suns run.

What makes you think that Marion won't be the third option on this team when he shot more then everybody?

Unless the Suns become willing to trade for playable depth. Miami seems to me like a team that wants high level players and will fill out the rest of their depth however they can. Marion and Banks for Haslem, Williams and Wright seems like a trade that addresses problems for the Suns and the Heat.

- The Heat would have three legitimate stars. They could trot out a starting lineup of Parker, Wade, Marion, Walker and Shaq.

- The Suns would have a dirty work power forawrd who can hit jump shots, a down-the-line wing and a point guard who actually fits the system as a back up.

- The Suns would save 13 million dollars after the season, save 5 million dollars in salary this season, plus the luxury tax money, which saves them an additional 5 million.

- I honestly think that if Williams was given the freedom to play his true, risk-reward style of play off the bench for the Suns, he'd be very effective. He's only needed to play 15 minutes per game off the bench, which would mean that Nash's minutes would cut down to 33 a game.

- They'd have a smart, big defender to go against the best opposing post player, and the Suns would have 3 big men who are capable of playing 30-40 minutes a night at power forward or center. Also, I think Diaw and Haslem would work very well together on the floor.

- Everyone has clearly defined roles. Nash is the leader. Stoudemire is the finisher and go-to scorer. Bell is the perimeter defender/shooter. Hill is the utility knife. Haslem is the post defender. Barbosa is the bench spark. Diaw is the game changing forward/center off the bench. Williams is the streaky, kind of crazy, can take over the game or be put back on the bench back up point. Am I crazy, or can that team beat San Antonio and Dallas? Haslem did a great job on Dirk in the finals, he can probably be serviceable against Duncan. Sure, we have no one to guard Parker, but we don't have that with our current team. Maybe Strawberry can do it. Who knows? But the Spurs have no one to guard Stoudemire.

Lineup
Nash/Williams/Barbosa
Bell/Barbosa
Hill/Bell/Tucker
Haslem/Diaw
Stoudemire/Diaw/Marks

If the Suns manage to add PJ Brown, they'd have a legitimate 9 player rotation of Nash, Bell, Hill, Haslem, Stoudemire, Barbosa, Diaw, Williams and Brown. There's also the hope that someone from Marks/Tucker/Strawberry could be helpful in injury situations.

At first I thought no way in hell, but after seeing this team have all the defined roles they actually need filled, I would not mind that at all.

I don't like that Heat trade at all. You don't trade stars for depth in the NBA, simple as that.

Marion has always complained, and he's always showed up on game day--if anything, when he complains the most, he plays his best ball. If the Suns trade him, their primary consideration will almost certainly be money.

They were talking about chemistry issues between Amare and Marion on ktar just now.. well basically everything we already know for like years.
Surprised that Raja Bell's name hasn't popped up because I am thinking he has some problems with Amare as well. (there were rumors on realgm that he told some people in NY during pickup games that Amare is totally overrated and stuff)

They also mentioned that Marion doesn't hang around with Nash either so he is basically a loner, Nash hangs out with Barbosa and Diaw all the time.

Well, you know, those other guys probably talk about things like basketball, which Marion isn't interested in.

Yeah Marion is more into Scooby-Doo.

Btw what about the made-up Memphis trades.

Mike Miller, Stromile Swift, Damon Stoudamire for Marion and Banks. I'd be totally for it.

I was into that scenario before Thomas was dumped, but now...

The problem is that the Suns are so short of bigs, Marion has to be considered a PF for them, meaning the Suns would have to get a capable big back in return. Swift is worth a look, but there's been nothing so far to indicate that he can be a rotation big on an elite team. If that trade goes through, who starts at PF/C for the Suns? Diaw and Stoudemire? We saw how well that worked last year.

Unfortunately I don't see any trades for Marion that make any sense except for some of the Kirilenko scenarios, and even those are pretty iffy from a Suns standpoint.

Ron Artest if the Suns could drop their moral issues. ;)

Can't anyone find a reasonable way to possibly get Chandler? ;)

Marion, Banks for Chandler, Stojakovic works under the cap.

Unfortunately Byron Scott strikes me as someone who doesn't like small ball too much and he would be left without a starting center.

Why would the Hornets do that trade?

To get away from Stojakovic, who has the worst contract in the league now.

There's no way the Suns would take Stojakovic, though, and Chandler would give them the same spacing problems as Hunter in 2004.

Also, the Suns simply cannot afford to take on a second big with major injury concerns. Stoudemire is scary enough.
