Maybe, but I think the matchup problem is going to be an issue. It's easy to say that from high altitude that the NFC East is pretty bad. But if we're going to be a primarily offense-first team, then we're going to be looking at shootouts against some pretty good offenses in Dallas and Philly. I don't think that the prospective cellar-dwellers int eh NFC East (Washington and the Giants) are anywhere near as dreadful as the Jags and Titans were last year.

Keep in mind, though, that we played Atlanta at home, when they were hobbled by injuries. We're going to be coming into San Diego at their full strength, more or less.

It'll be interested to see how this team fares against high-powered offenses with comperably weak defenses. Last season, we squared off and succeeded against some teams with bullying defenses and relatively weak offenses like Houston and Jacksonville and Carolina and Tampa, but we had problems with teams like Philly that have very good offenses and more pedestrian defenses.

I expect that without a pass rush we're going to struggle against proven veteran passers like Rivers. I think you have more faith than I do that Palmer is going to be able to pick up the slack.

At Philly we were cheated simple as that. Bad example

8-8 miss the playoffs.

Lose the home opener to San Diego.

Seahawks/Broncos repeat in the Super Bowl.

9ers regress a little.

Unless Seattle is hit with massive injuries I see no reason to believe they won't repeat. Denver went all-in in FA for perhaps Peyton's last year.

man... losing the home opener would just suck balls. then going on the road to the Niners? an 0-2 start would suck a lot of kool-aid out of me pretty quick.

Agreed and it's entirely plausible. I actually think we have a better chance of winning that Frisco game in game two.

The Chargers D is no joke, especially their front. On O they have an arsenal but they are fast moving. Phillip Rivers is really in tune with it and they kind of caught fire like we did last year.

I just think our D took too big of a hit where it counted the most in this division. The loss of Dansby and D-weed and replacing them with a plodding Foote and Minter can't be overlooked, especially with the scramble threat that Wilson and Kap are. Deone is a rookie, and HB isn't all the way back.

Hm... I see the Kansas City Chiefs regressing. They were, what, 12-4 last year? They lost three of their best 5 OL, and Eric Fisher is looking like a tremendous bust right now.

Fair points. I have a bunch of faith in Reid and expect growth in the Offense going into their 2nd season.

Even if they go 10-6 they will be a very good team that can beat just about anybody.

I disagree on the Chargers defense. We will see, but they are very weak in the back end, and their pass rush is slightly better than ours. And on offense, they have Rivers and Allen, but Matthews is not dynamic, Gates is showing his age, and Green is still green. I don't see us losing this game.

Faith in Reid or not, they have lost several offensive pieces which they have not replaced.

The Chiefs are rebuilding though you won't hear them say it. They are avoiding big contracts for aging players, replacing those players with younger, cheaper guys, and turning over the roster. Albert out, and Fisher in. Schwartz, out. Flowers, out. Asamoah, out. McCluster, out. Jackson, out.

3/5 of their offensive line is starting at new positions this year. Their starting WRs are Avery and Hammond until Bowe is back. Two new starting CBs. One new ILB. One new DE. A lot of transition on this team, and I expect it to take a step back.

Any TE even Gates will be scary when playing against the Cardinals. We all know that. :(

I don't like the Chargers matchup for game 1. Very dangerous. If Rivers gets hot, we could easily be routed by double digits.

I see us at 8-8. If we had washington, Dansby and Dockett I think we could

of grabbed second place and 10 wins again this year. Losing those studs is

going to be too much to over come. Will still be a fun year watching some

shootouts.

I see 8-8 as well. Man it's just almost to much to overcome your losing Washington, Dansby, Docket and who knows what your gonna get out of the Badger.

I think the offense is going to hinge on Cooper and if he can get healthy and his head right and Palmer cutting down on the INTs

3 - 13. Wins over NY and Washington plus a split with the Rams. That's if we lose to San Diego. If we beat the Chargers, I'm feeling a lot better about our chances.
