CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there is a "very good chance" free agent NT Dontari Poe signs a one-year, prove-it deal.

Poe's back is causing concern among interested teams, according to ESPN's Ed Werder, so Poe apparently will ink a one-year deal and try to stay healthy in order to hit the market again next year. The Falcons continue to be linked to Poe. Assistant GM Scott Pioli drafted Poe in Kansas City.

GO GET HIM GO GET HIM GO GET HIM

one of the best NTs in the league. No risk 1 year contract

Backup QB, too. ;)

my lord... the Pats just completed their trade for Cooks. So... they've lost, uh... no one so far, and added Cooks, Ealy and the best CB on the market?

I know people keep saying "what would the Patriots do"... but that's got to stop. They are unlike anything I've literally ever seen in sports at this point.

its unreal how easy they make it look. They are two steps ahead of everyone else.

They lost Bennett and history shows Gronk and Allen will both miss time this year.

I think Cooks is a future move as much as a win-now move. Edelman and Amendola are both in the last year of their deals and Cooks has a 5th year option that NE can pick up. I think they're so high on Garappolo that they will move on from Brady after 1-2 more seasons. Besides, if you're a SB contender you don't trade the best backup in the league.

Do non-tendered free agent losses count in the compensatory pick formula? Will the Cards get credit for losing Fells and Catanzaro?

they figure into the formula.... but the size of their new contracts has a lot to do with it....

lose a guy to a big contract.... aka Campbell...... then not replace him with a big contract guy...= Comp pick....

lose a guy to a small contract...aka...Fells or Catman..... way likely no comp pick because we will sign some small contract guys

Yes. I also believe that if we sign the same # as we lose then we get no comp picks even if we sign all small contracts and we lost CC and TJ to big money contracts.

Maybe this is what is is all about. The Cardinals are stocking up on comp picks. (sarcasm)

Although comp picks are a nice benefit, I thought the Cardinals were in win now mode. I think losing too many players can come back to haunt them.
