While most NFL analyst project the Atlanta Falcons to focus heavily on defense in the 2025 NFL draft, the team has rarely done what was expected during the four drafts under general manager Terry Fontenot.
The Falcons obviously have more needs on defense, but they're doing their due diligence when it comes to the 2025 draft class. According to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Atlanta is set to meet with Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond. A Georgia native, Bond will visit the Falcons for a local pro day next week.
Wide receiver isn't one of the team's bigger needs, but it never hurts to provide a young quarterback with more weapons. Bond is one of the fastest receivers in the draft, running a 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The Longhorns standout had a slightly less productive season in 2024, finishing with 34 receptions for 540 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Bond is a projected mid-round prospect in this year's draft class.
Pro Football Focus ranked the Texas wideout as the 109th prospect on its 2025 NFL big board.
"Bond's world-class speed will be coveted, likely in the top 50," PFF wrote. "But he needs to continue to grow as a receiver -- not just a fast player -- to remain on the field for more than vertical play calls."
The Falcons have two quality wide receivers in Drake London and Darnell Mooney, plus a capable slot man in Ray-Ray McCloud. Adding a speedy option who can play inside or outside would create more space for Atlanta's other playmakers.
The Falcons have bigger needs on defense, and that's where we assume the team will focus in Round 1. Atlanta holds the 15th overall pick and has just five overall picks (two in the seventh round).
