I wonder if Sando watched the game Saturday. Our entire offensive line looked washed up.

But Whisenhunt is a genius. He's more than likely laying low having the team look bad and then pretending he's ticked lulling the opposing teams into thinking that without Warner and all the other turnover in personnel the Cards are a "joke".

Then September 12th they show up and destroy the Rams. Well I guess they could do that even if they are a joke. So on Sept. 19th they show up and destroy the Falcons.

my take remains the same

Our Oline has backed up in pass coverage almost 70% of the time these last 3 years. allowing 26 sacks or less in 600 pass attempts to 365 run attyempts deserves a medal not trashtalk.

I said to anybody that wouldn't listen that Deuce is younger and stronger than Alan, has 2 playoffs and a SB under his belt as a 3rd year starter. He is just barely devoleped and this line is just hitting it's prime after 3 years together.

Alan is a great player but this is his 13th year 9 probowls in a row. He can outplay anybody any down but keepit up for a NFL season marathon? It's a big maybe but He's got my benefit of the doubt.

We are a SB caliber Oline with or without Faneca. not by traditional OLine grading and the 30 something rush rankings, but measure the point of attack wins by our oline. we are the best in the NFL.

defenses knew we were going to pass Kurt dared them to blitz and burnt it enough times to become a legend all worl HOFFER, Beanie had a 170+ rushes and THT had 143 2 years in a row! Edge was our engine in the playoffs and SB in 08.

the DeuceMeister may have lost a couple cases of his 1 keg abs since he signed, but he's a damn good mauling Guard every down. Wells is more athletic and can pull better than any guard on the team. He can handle RT too, already played their for the Cards early on, but was wasting his athletic ability inside.

So Faneca is a great guard, leader and hoffer for sure, but deuce is younger and stronger and more powerful. besides he was laughing his tail off while a bear was attacking him, the bear was shot, tagged and expelled to the locker room for the resty of te game. while Deuce laughed and laughed and laughed! gotta love that!

We did not upgrade our starters with Alan but we upgraded our oline and our team untill I see otherwise.

Faneca was absolutely awful in pass coverage last year, this isn't something that just recently came up. Faneca is done.

Just FYI--Deuce Lutui and Alan Faneca don't play the same position.

True but Lutui is on the bench arguably because of Faneca, they moved Wells to RG to make room for Faneca.

I watched the Jets game last night for awhile and they basically opened the show talking about how one of the big concerns on the Jets is LG, they don't yet know who is going to start.

That made me a bit nervous, they paid Faneca to leave and yet they don't have a clear cut replacement? That is either really dumb or they were REALLY sure Faneca is washed up?

I'll give him more games but as I said I won't be surprised at all if we end up with Wells at LG and Deuce at RG.

Well, Wells was really bad last season run-blocking. And he's a free agent, so I think they signed Hadnot not to compete/replace Deuce (whom I still think gets an extension), but to replace Wells. Then Faneca falls out of the sky at the same time Lutui is eating pie. Wells may have been in a competition with Bridges for a roster spot as a swing lineman, but now he's in a competition he's going to lose with Lutui (IMO a far better run blocker and an equivalent pass blocker).

It depends on whether or not this team is really committed to the run. If the Cards are going to run whether it works or not (like fewer than 525 pass attempts this season), then Faneca has to start for all the reasons that people have already stated here. If the Cards are even going to go 55% passing, I expect to see Faneca retire at the end of camp rather than head to the bench.

The Jets preferred to go with a guy who's only played football for five years over Alan Faneca. It cracks me up that people pretend that's nothing to be concerned with.

On the other hand, one of the Jets few on-field question marks is who will play LG for them. What else were those guys going to talk about? The fullback battle? More Darelle Revis coverage?

Whisenhunt said guard Alan Faneca is getting better in pass protection. “There has been a lot of talk about the demise of Alan Faneca, and I haven’t really seen that,” Whiz said. “Have I seen him get beat in one-on-one pass protections in camp? Sure I have. But Calais (Campbell) is becoming a pretty good pass rusher.”

Whisenhunt said Herman Johnson’s weight issue “infuriates me” and it was easy to see it affecting Johnson’s lateral movement. “If he gets to the weight he needs to be, he can be a pretty good player,” Whisenhunt added.

Whis has been a pretty crabby guy lately, and rightfully so. Sirius NFL radio did their broadcast from TC and in an interview with him, he said he counted 40 mental mistakes made by the offense and told them the play was sloppy on Saturday.

That was a great moment! I still would love to know what Lutui said to him...

Hard to know yet.

But I think that Rex Ryan would cut off his own nose just to spite his face.

I'm just sayin'... :)
