We are at 69 as of right now. I'm assuming that we'll put K.King on IR which will mean we are actually at 68. We get a "roster exemption" for R. Cantu, which means we have to cut 14 by 4:00 pm est. Here are my guesses:

1) S. Grace (OG/C)...NOT PS ELIGIBLE
2) E.Lindsay (OG).....NOT PS ELIGIBLE
3) A.Reuber (OT)......PS ELIGIBLE
4) E.Edwards (TE).....PS ELIGIBLE
5) L.Hamilton (WR)....NOT PS ELIGIBLE
6) R.Newhouse (WR)..PS ELIGIBLE
7) D.Anderson (RB)....NOT PS ELIGIBLE
8) A.Cason (RB)........NOT PS ELIGIBLE
9) L.Croom (RB).........PS ELIGIBLE
10)D.Johnson (DE).....NOT PS ELIGIBLE
11) S.Smith (DT).......PS ELIGIBLE
12) C.Hilliard (DT)......PS ELIGIBLE
13) A.Smith (DE).......PS ELIGIBLE
14) A.Mayes (SS)......PS ELIGIBLE

Time will tell.......I'd rather cut C.Rhinehart vs.D.Johnson

List looks pretty accurate - but I think Croom makes the roster 'cause if they waive him to try to put him on the PS somebody else is going to pick him up.

I really think not...... because it means that unless they put him on a 53 man roster, he'll have to go on to a team's PS and he hasn't shown enough as an UDFA to any other team to warrant this.

Anyone who is waived has to go on the active roster if another team picks him up. Nobody is going to claim Croom and put him on their active roster. I guess they could claim him, cut him in a day or two, and THEN put him on the practice squad. Not gonna happen.

We'll be keeping three backs. Croom doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being on the active roster, he doesn't play special teams. Scobey is a lock as the third guy. And, I'm a person who said he'd never be worth much as a NFL RB. He's been our best special teamer though.

Bingo. The last round of cuts are high-stakes pick-ups because of the active roster requirement. Besides, there's one more thing to keep in mind.

As Dennis Green is fond of reminding us, 160+ players are going to hit the waiver wire today. And my guess is, most of the other teams in the NFL aren't waiting on pins and needles to see who won't make the Cardinals' final roster.

After all, if Green--a proven HC with a reputation for identifying and developing talent--doesn't think a player can help him in returning the Cardinals to respectability, how many other teams are gonna have a lot of interest? Other than former player-coach connections (e.g., ex-OC Jerry Sullivan picking up Bryan Gilmore to fill out the Dolphins' depleted receiving corps), I don't see much reason for the rest of the NFL to be combing through the Cards' castoffs. (Personally, I'd be dumpster-diving outside the Patriots' offices, or the Ravens'. But maybe that's just me.)

I know, one man's trash is another man's treasure. And the Cards have sometimes failed to "sneak" a promising player through waivers. But it's different this year. Now teams will be gambling that, over the course of training camp and the preseason, Dennis Green swung and missed on evaluating the ability of one of the players he cut.

When it comes to judging talent, Green has a lot higher batting average than his immediate predecessors with this team. And I suspect that there will be less interest in the players he lets go today.

Well if the "big" surprise has to happen......my vote would be to cut Emmitt Smith!

Your list looks pretty conservative. No surprises and all the guys you would expect to cut -- mostly the waiver wire pick-ups.

I hate to say it because I have actually gained more respect for him since he has been here. But he is NOT a starting RB in this league anymore.

My educated guesses:

- An offensive tackle with bulging discs could be headed for IR.

- A safety with back problems could be headed for IR.

- A backup veteran center/guard might be vulnerable if Denny likes Leckey all that much.

- A second year lead-blocker could be chopped if it was thought Hambrick could fill the same role in a pinch.

- I doubt the Cards would cut their #3 TE (Edwards) and only go into regular season with two.

- Think we'll carry 7 LB's into regular season instead of 6? Ray Ray could wind up on IR. Or Levar F could be odd man out.

- There could be bigger surprises if we were to pick up a high profile cut from another team and then have to pare a roster spot none of us ever thought about. (I'm thinking that, if another team released a QB who Denny thought was better than King or could help us more immediately than Navarre, we might drop either of the two. If it was Navarre, hopefully neither Cincy or the other team ahead of us would claim him, and we'd re-sign him for our PS).

I agree with Skorp....this list is wrong. Cason gets a shot Leckey or Garcia go....most likely Leckey to PS...some of the list is right but does Wragge make this team? I don't think so. Stone is still not a lock over Mayes. Hope we find out soon. Thanks for the list and discussion Spanky.

Leckey won't squeak by......very thin at OG....remeber LJ is hurt and may go on IR......Mayes would squeak under the radar screen of other teams and is PS bound.....we need Stone for depth at CB as well as SS. Garcia is the ONLY solid backup at C.....remember Steph is a rookie!

Ahhhh, woman's intuition. Hasn't failed me yet! :D

I really liked this Croom kid and I'm glad he made the squad.

That was a very good call. None of the "experts" thought we'd keep 4 RBs. So, way to go!
