He remains perfectly loyal to his guys. That is a trait to admire. However, it could get in the way. Will it eventually be he dividing line between he and general manager Steve Keim?

The answer is yes.

It's not like it's all been a problem with the specialists. The coverage and return schemes are soured vanilla on their best days. The ceiling of our STs is just solid. Not dynamic or explosive... I remember the organization kept john Lott, Ray Horton, and Kevin spencer held back within after firing KW. I really wish we would have kept Kevin spencer.

Special teams have sucked since Amos Jones showed up here in the valley. So far this year the Cardinals have missed a field goal in every game. They have averaged a league low 2.5 yards per punt return. They have yet to return a kick past the 23 yard line and yet still try to bring them out almost every time when they could just take it on the 25.

Aside from Budda Baker making some awesome plays on punt coverage there hasn't been anything to cheer about with the ST units coached by Amos Jones this year. It's just more of the same.

I forget. What number is Amos???

I understand that point of view. Arians has said something similar many times, and obviously it is perfectly true that Amos Jones does not do the place kicking, punt the ball or run down the field to block the opponent. My countertake would be that at some point I think you have to keep the coaches - and to an extent the primary coaches - accountable. No head coach around the league throw the ball, run with the ball or fight the blocker to make a sack but if the team does not win or even perform in an acceptable way, it is the head coaches that has the responsibilty and thus risk getting fired.

Maybe the players are simply not good enough, and even though I obviously do not have the inside knowledge as to how the things work in detail in the personnel departement, I do not think it is unfair to think that Amos Jones are at least partly responsible for selecting the players on his special teams units.

Our ST has been bottom feeder since Jones got here. I agree he needs to go, if only out of principle that eventually someone needs to be held accountable. Otherwise the talk to players about being accountable rings hollow and hypocritical.

Regarding kicking, my personal view is that we all make too many knee-jerk (see what I did there?) decisions. I remember reading a Bill Barnwell article about kickers. He pointed out that a baseball player can get in a slump and go 1-15 over a 4 game stretch, and coaches keep trotting them out there without blinking. Kickers don't get a lot of chances, so their sample size is tiny. We as fans can watch our favorite baseball player go into a 3 week slump and not call for him to be cut, but people are already calling for Dawson to go. I don't know, I just think in a game where that end of the game kick can mean a win or a loss, emotion plays way too big a part of that decision on a very small sample size.

His coaching ability just does not revolve around his knowledge and what he says but how he says the information and whether it's getting across to guys younger than him. Let's say that Arians sees him coach, others see him coach, and they all agree his points are valid instruction but they do not comprise the generation gap that are the athletes... it all means jack crap if his style is unable to reach the players, Amos regardless of his knowledge cannot communicate properly to players by the evidence of their performance in my opinion

Why doesn't Arizona media ask about Jones and his being held accountable? It seems like they'll only ask critical questions in a roundabout way.

I think it's a legit question to ask, how many times are you going to let the ST's be a big factor in why the team loses? When BA blames the players, the follow up should be what about Jones being held accountable.

Because Arizona sports media is a bunch of spineless wimps who are more concerned about being buddy-buddy with the coaches so they can brag about "insider info" (which is really just crumbs) rather than being real sports journalists.
