Doug asked Steve Keim about it this morning.

Keim gave BA's party line that we don't see what goes on behind the scenes. Don't blame the chef because the dinner is cold, right Steve?

Keim also said that they need to start taking guys out who are making the same mistakes. Says he's combing the waiver wire.

Because Arizona sports media is a bunch of spineless wimps who are more concerned about being buddy-buddy with the coaches so they can brag about "insider info" (which is really just crumbs) rather than being real sports journalists.
This all day.

So once again, no coaches are being held accountable in public, but players get called out all the time. Shameful. Did Doug press him on that hypocrisy?

You can take players out, but not coaches? Firing a coach would shake things up positively.

Might just be me but has anyone else noticed the career of Amos Jones? He dropped down to High School coach 3 times and CFL once. WTF?

The other thing that sticks out...he hasn't lasted more than 2 years at anytime other than Pittsburgh and Arizona. 13 out of 15 jobs less than 2 years...I would say there is a pattern of failure here. If this was a job candidate, I wouldn't hire them.

Yep, pretty much blamed it on the players. Said they were trying to raise the football IQ of special team players. So, who is picking these low IQ players then? The low IQ coach?

I think you can pull the resume's of many, many football assistant coaches and it will look similar.

Yep Keim directly danced around the question regarding Amos & avoided it like the plague. Unreal

After hearing this interview I'm not sure anymore if Keim really sees the problems or is already so into BA's storytelling that he can't evaluate right. At least I'm not going to stop guys calling for his head anymore.

The only thing that he got right was, that the O-line can't block if the opponent knows you are passing and knows what play you are calling. But he never critizised any coach, and called the ST players "low IQ" players. That doesn't sit well to me, seeing that the ST is so poorly coached and doesn't have a good system at all.

If they really get coached everything they need to know and can't performe, than we need to fire them all.

But at the end, this could be his last season too, he didn't find a QB and all his #1 and #2 rounders aren't really amounting to great players. after 9 players normally at least one should be a star by now. It's great you hit one or two on a #3 rounder, but Golden was his only saving and he is now out and can't produce.

Only for the mediocre and bad ones. Most coaches jump from team to team moving up the ladder. If you keep switching teams moving horizontally it is because you are getting fired and not leaving for a better job.

Look at Miss St... He went from being the special teams coordinator and LB coach to just the OBL coach the next year. That is a clear demotion.

He's just BA's friend and that is his biggest qualification. I don't care if Amos is the best STC on the planet and he is just unlucky that his guys don't produce for years on end, someone has to take accountability.

This team has ZERO accountability and yesterday was the first time I can remember saying he should be taking the blame. If your unit consistently has problems the problem is the coach.

If Amos was a true friend to BA he would resign or at least take a demotion to get someone else in there who can do the job and he can collect a check and just be in charge of snacks. If he was such a loyal friend he wouldn't want to hurt BAs rep and legacy and bring heat on him like he has caused for years now.

i endorse this thread

Really cuz they are getting better. They only had a missed field goal, a punt return allowed TD, a blocked field goal, a couple bad snaps and generally terrible coverage and kicking in general!!! :p

I dont know how you can put the everything that has been aweful about this entire unit for years and put it on the one guy who has been here for all that time! Players gotta play man! "BA":sarcasm:

BA is getting old so I'm still waiting for him to slip up one day in post game:

"Nah Amos's bad coaching didn't,,, errr, I mean, Amos's coaching didn't cost us this one it was the players not executing Amos crappy scheme,,, I mean his scheme..."

The woes of the last couple years magnify things a lot, but this monstrosity of a ST was costing us games (including playoffs) since the get-go. Mismanagement seems to be the name of the game from the top down so I'm convinced the success we had was more due to good fortune than good design. Even the homers on 98.7 that collect a side-check from the team for blowing sunshine up our butts are finally saying that Amos should be replaced because of ST sucking so bad every year.

This team is a mess but so long as we don't do something stupid like bringing CP back for $25M or Fitz for $15M we should have money to start rebuilding next year and hopefully a new HC, and maybe even a new GM.
