Ridiculous. One of the most successful coaches in the NBA the last few years. As he likes to say, he is what he is.

nope, dont fire DA. There is work to be done trying to get the most out of shaq in the suns schemes for the playoffs. Plenty of backseat driver fans that know almost everything, but have nothing on the line, no offense. If the trade for shaq is a bust, Kerr is out front on this one, then Sarver, then DA. Bottom line is that this is Nashs last hurrah, this year and possibly next, time to find out whether its in the cards for him. Any coaching change should include unloading Nash, and there wont be much value there, so they should just finish what they are doing.

Blowing up the team is a possibility, but it would be easier when shaq, nash are expiring contracts down the road. When the suns rebuild, they should start with picks that they do have and use the expiring contracts when they come up.

This is really the larger issue. I can't see the Suns ever getting an established proven winner for a coach, because that person is going to insist on some form of control, and he's not gonna get that from Sarver and Kerr. The owner/GM are making roster decisions based on what's better for the business instead of what gives the team the best chance to win (i.e. James Jones and Kurt Thomas).

The Shaq trade was great for the business because it brings lots of popularity and marketing revenue to the team. Win or lose, the Suns are now national and that's all that counts. Hell, just look at how many new people from across the country have signed up to follow the team just on this board alone because of Shaq. Jersey sales and TV ratings (ad revenue) are sky high. That's money in $arver's pocket and more than makes up for the extra $20M he'll pay for Shaq's contract in the third year.

D'Antoni is caught between a rock and a hard place with this team and there's not much he can do about it as long as management has their priorities backwards.

Firing D'Antoni now would be incredibly stupid. Show me examples where firing your coach mid season has EVER produced a ring??? A new coach who will bring in his own thoughts a methodologies this late in the season?

No thanks.

I am all for going in a new direction after the season if we get nowhere but not now. If you think this transition is a disaster then multiple that times 100 with a new coach.

Miami did it just a couple of years ago. Sure, officially Van Gudy 'stepped down', but that was Riley firing him... the collected rings a few months later, IIRC.

But that was different in that they didn't bring anyone in from outside of the team to coach like the Suns would be doing.

Plus, you gave only one example. I would say the odds would still be stacked WAY in favor of keeping your coach.

Firing D'Antoni now will kill whatever little hope we have of going all the way. Obviously something must be considered if we exit in first or second round, again.

Show me examples where the stupid 7 man-rotation has EVER produced a ring?
