It just seems really short sighted to say that Melvin is why this team is losing and having anyone else manage is going to fix anything. This team is what it is a YOUNG team with inconsistant players up and down the lineup, almost no veteren leadership since Odog - Burns - Clark haven't been playing. You need some veterens on a young team some solid CONTACT hitters and good defenders type veterans. You can't have everyone in the lineup striking out 2 or 3 times a game its crazy and its not Melvin making them strikeout!

I bet to differ on that. Reynolds should not be hitting 5th with no protection behind him. He does not see anything good to hit since no one behind him is hitting and he is trying to hit a home run every time. Hitting 3rd with Dunn behind him would allow him to see pitches or take a walk to allow Dunn to knock him in. Connor should hit second. My lineup reduce some K's.

SS Drew
LF Jackson
3B Reynolds
1B Dunn
C Snyder
CF Young
RF Upton
2B Eckstien/Ojedia

Sure fire Melvin that will fix our problems...what a joke. No one was crying for Melvin to be fired when the players actually did their jobs early in the season! Ridiculous if you think firing Melvin is going to fix this team, it must have been him not getting a hit and leaving 17 guys on base yesterday in a one run loss!

A couple of guys, yes.
When an entire team fails to produce it shows a lack of leadership.

SS Drew
LF Jackson
3B Reynolds
1B Dunn
C Snyder
CF Young
RF Upton

your lineup will have our 3-7 hitters all among leaders in K/AB

This should be our lineup... Drew is too valuable to be batting first.

Eckstein/Ojeda
Drew
Jackson
Dunn
Upton
Reynolds
Snyder
Young

Next year...

Ojeda
Drew
Jackson
Upton
Tracy
Reynolds
Snyder
Young

If Ojeda is starting for this team next year then they are in much more trouble than we thought.

The problem is that Reynolds has not had protection behind him since Upton was hitting behind him early in the year and at that point Reynolds was tearing it up. He needs protection and needs to bat third. He also hits about 300 with runners on. Drew and Jackson both are contact hitters and get a lot of extra base hits. They need to be 1-2 in the lineup. Jackson is not a #3 guy in this league. With no Dunn here next year and no Hudson I am worried a bit.

Excellent points. If Reynolds were hitting third ahead of a big bopper, he'd contribute much more to the team.

I wish there were a spot for him in the outfield. At 3B, he's "leading" the Majors in errors. I believe that plays a part in his trying too hard at the plate.

That being said, Upton batting third with Dunn cleanup could turn Justin into a superstar -- possibly the next Ken Griffey, Jr.

As much potential as Reynolds has as an RBI guy, it's not near Upton's 5-tool potential. We need Adam Dunn (or an Adam Dunn) hitting behind him next season.

And, of course, set a batting order, then let it mature together.

Why fire him at all? You have someone in mind thats better?
The two best candidates are already wearing D'backs uniforms.

One is our Bench Coach and the other was our Minor League manager of the year who was brought up to coach 3B. Emphasis on Minor League manager of the year.

I'm not renewing my season tix next year. Screwing with our young player's heads (and their, and our, futures) is too irritating to spend good money to go see live. When they call to beg me to renew, I will tell them when they fire Melvin, I'll sign on again.

I do not understand what is possibly going on in Melvin's brain. I would love to have a thought balloon over that guys head. Is he thinking actual people thoughts or, like, the thoughts of a dog?

Case in point, Tony Clark on opening day hit two home runs and had three RBIs. The next two days, not in the line-up. What gives? Bob Melvin decides to juggle the line-up more than... well... a juggler. Instead we have to suffer through more Byrnes at bats.

Last year it was all about Conor Jackson trying to find his comfort zone in the field. What does Melvin do in the first series? Why move him around the from left to first at the first opportunity.

But perhaps the most irritating thing is the play of some players. Reynolds, Young, and Upton continue to swing for the fences on every given opportunity. For example, runner on second and first no outs, Chris Young is up (batting second in the order mind you) and what does he do? Heavens no, our second hitter cannot bunt! He must swing, swing away. Double play. For the love of somewhat holy things, have a bloody plan when stepping into the batter's box. I wonder what the over/under would be for strikeouts on a team; for this team I imagine somewhere around one billion.

All in all, I would think that the general theme of this rant is that if Melvin was put in a room with a croquet ball, baseball, basketball, and a rabbit he would immediately begin to demand the croquet ball lay him eggs.

As opposed to the rabbit? I think you have been watching too many Cadbury bunny comercials.
