I know itis a staple of his offense, but how many times do you call playaction boots & waggles when they weren’t working tonight? The Lambs defensively played & schemed to stop nearly every one of them & Petzing kept calling them as Kyler ran for his life on nearly all of them. Dumb move by him & shows his questionable play calling. A good OC would’ve stopped imo.
Agree that the rams seemed to have that schemes perfectly.

But ironically this is exactly what half of the board had been excoriating petzig for not calling enough of for weeks.

Bro, come on. With 2 TO, on the 6, with 40 seconds, we should be running.

I blast Uncle Fester for invariably making bad calls at the worst times. This was a shining example of this.

You are way better than this. I know it and you know it.
Dude Michael Carter isn’t a power back. Earlier in the game we saw him get stoned in a similar situation with 3 backup olinemen in the game. Carter is 5’8 and 200lbs. That wasn’t JC, or even benson, back there.

I’ve been critical of petzig this season. Way too conservative. But he’s at the point where some of y’all will criticize anything he calls even if it’s the opposite of what you were previously criticizing him for earlier in a game or a prior game.

You’re just speaking outta both sides of your mouth. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that if we run it there and get stuffed, every Petzig basher bashed him for being too conservative.

Reality is he called the right play. Kyler just threw a bad pass. If he throws a good one, it’s a TD. I know it and you know it.

Nope, it was tailor made to run it there. Twice, even. 4 down territory, ticking clock. Not running was an amazingly bad coaching decision. Amazingly bad. Even IF they score on that, you leave 40 seconds and 2 timeouts for the Rams.

Please don't excuse bad playcalling because whatever wild reason is in your head rn.

Petzing sucks as a playcaller, and this was a prime example. I don't care if we get stuffed, it's the right call. 100 times out of 100. If we wanted to pass, that's later, probably after the Rams burned another timeout, and it should have been play action.

You aren't related to Petzing, unless Ouchie has been fooling us all along. Stop defending a horrible playcall because reasons.
Cmon, you’ve met me. I’m better looking and taller than that!

I don't think I've ever criticized him for passing in an obvious running situation. A draw on 2nd and 30, sure.

Really, you guys are out of left field on this one. I don't care if it is me back there. Clock and down and TO situation for both teams called for a run. To deny that is just wild.

Lol… an OBVIOUS running situation… from the 5 yard line with a 4th strung running back. You guys are acting like this was Pete Carroll’s call taking the ball out of Marshawn Lynch’s hands at the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl.

Only we were at the 5 yard line with a 4th string running back.

The play called for us to just blow a play just to get them to burn a timeout… on the assumption that we’d still score a TD and could just blow off any down deep in the red zone… for an offense that has struggled to score TDs for five games?

Not to mention the play call was PERFECT if our QB didn’t spike the ball off one of the best TEs in football.

The idea that this woeful second half of the season offense could “play the clock” instead of playing to WIN is patently ridiculous:

There is a right call and a wrong call. That was the wrong call. Full stop. All your handwringing about past performance doesn't change that. BTW, we've been far more successful running within 10 than passing. And I don't care it wasn't Connor. Carter had just gained 6 to get us on the 5.

It was a bad call. Your daddy Drew blew the call. Period. Then Kyler Kylered.

He had 70 yards in the game at 5.4 per carry. Yes, freaking RUN IT.

Master play all right here.

It looked like that was going back to Dortch on the screen. Someone missed their block preventing the throwback to Kyler.

Play design is actually okay but yeah a lot of moving parts needing to go right for it to work. Probably not the time and place for that call.

And was able to run between the tackles.
Carter has always been a physical runner in spite of his size. He is like a bowling ball. And once he pops into the open he can house it. I was expecting him to get it. But I cannot bitch about the call either. It was there. Should've been a TD.

Clock down and TO, sure. State of the oline, rb, and prior experience in same scenario, no.

And three backup olinemen. And we got stoned earlier in the game trying the same thing.

Hmm and the field continues to shrink as you approach the goalline making it increasingly difficult. If you want a truly comparable predictor, look at the same play from a similar distance earlier in the game where Carter got stuffed.

We averaged 5.1 yards a carry last night. Carter had 5.3 yards a carry. We were running the ball pretty well as the game went on. Yes, I would have given it to Carter at least in first down.

But, again, I cannot slam the call. It was there and coulda been a TD. It was open.
