Brady restructured his contract, something Fitz has done three times for us. We're going to ask for a paycut. Big difference.
Unlike Fitz Brady knows the Pats aren't cutting him so the situations are completely different.
No its not Fitz needs to not be selfish and give the team reasons contractually to keep him.
What do you think is a fair deal for Fitz?
Half of what he's scheduled to make.. 12 mill cap hit would be fair for both sides IMO...
The reality is that 12 million dollars is STILL ridiculous for Fitz at this point. We're talking about a WR who hasn't had 1000 yards for three straight seasons. You don't move forward by paying guys for what they did in the past.

Fitz also brings other value than just catches... He draws coverage and attention away from others. I also have no doubt that had Palmer remained healthy, Fitz would've reached 90 catches and 1,000 yards and would not have gotten hurt...
That said, I also think 12 million is too high... I think the number shouldn't be any higher than 10 million...
Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. Just because Fitz didn't get 1000 yards the last three years, that doesn't mean he CAN'T. Everyone knows we had terrible QB play the last three years (Even this one) and we got a coach who fundamentally changed his role in the offense.
I'm sure Fitz knows he has to come down on his salary. (Although, WTH was Keim doing saying they have Fitz' cap numbers "baked in" for next year? A bizarre statement if you want the guy to take a cut in salary.) Will he? I think he hasn't made up his mind yet. Just guessing of course.
Yes he can take a pay cut to help the team but it has nothing with the New England situation. Other than a fluke injury happening Brady is getting that bread.
Ummm There is no excuse for him not reaching 1000 last year even with the "new system" he had Carson Palmer for 16 games and had one of his highest yardage seasons ever with the likes of Josh McCown and not the Josh we see playing today either.
He wasn't asked to play a different role in a new system with McCown...

Doesn't matter skill set and getting open are the same regardless of system.

Did you read the restructure though in reference to the bonus?? He forfeited 24 million that he ONLY gets if he gets injured..He threw away cash... Also left himself open to being cut with ZERO penalty on the cap…
Not your typical "Restructure " at all
FYI anytime a deal is redone its a "restructure"
Brady "forfeited" nothing and "threw away" no cash. The restructure does not even change the Patriot's salary cap situation. It simply allows the organization to not be forced setting aside $24 mil in cash to an NFL version of an escrow account for Brady. In fact, Mr. Bundchen gets a $1 mil per year raise. Theoretically the restructure does open the door much wider for the Pats to cut him, but then they would lose the face of their franchise to another team that would gladly pay him the same/more. This was two sides working together toward a mutually beneficial financial outcome for both parties.

NFL contracts are a little different than submitting a time card to Payroll and getting a check sent direct deposit to your bank. "Restructure" can be a euphemism for loop hole in getting around NFL regulations and/or the Salary Cap. Just like a very good tax attorney, agents and FO personnel (IF they are willing to work toward the same goal) can bend the rules into a pretzel without breaking them. When Keim says Fitz's numbers are "baked in", I think "Extra salt and mustard, please" and Larry retiring a Cardinal.

Didn't seem to hurt Reggie Wayne when the same thing happened and he was playing with a rookie QB.
