Yea, I noticed that he made quit a few decent blocks. That one there is great to see out of the star WR! Love me some Fitz.

I love Fitz and everything he brings to the table but he has been drastically under utilized over the last couple of years. I sure hope they use him for more than just blocking during his last couple of years in AZ.

I think they are using him within the scheme to win as much as can be expected of a older WR without forcing him the ball... the fact that his blocking is often brought up is because he chooses to do it well and not because that is all he is asked while other older WRs just go through the motions when they are not involved in a play, Fitz is a football player first :)

Fitz will be walloping people blocking and in the middle of the field, which he loves to do. People underestimate how much he loves playing physical, because we are so used to premiere WRs being dives. Fitz and Andre Johnson are cut from the same cloth, they like to hit people.

I still don't like the fact that we use our WRs so much blocking so much inside the hash marks...bad things happen there. :stick:

You know Shane, I get your point. but in the f'ed up world we live in, Fitz resounds heavily for those of us who punch the clock every day, do the right thing, do what we're asked. He's the face of the franchise. Every team needs a Fitz and I think we have the best one going. He never sounds off about personal goals, blocks down like a demon when asked, and takes his receptions as they come, for the team. You're a good cop among all the bad we hear. Aren't you and Fitz really alike?

Urban said in his weekly chat today that anyone expecting Fitz to get 90/1200/12 is going to be disappointed. We're paying a lot of money for a Top 20 receiver + good PR + pushing a massive cap hit into the future.

He's not a one-trick pony for sure. :)

I think that's pretty freaking generous.

The Cardinals are paying Fitz to be a bell cow. He is the consummate pro and teammate. Exemplary work ethic, commitment to excellence and passion for the game. At this point in his career, Fitz is all about doing whatever it takes to earn a ring. Like taking pride in his blocking, even during a pre-season game.

Any chance 2014 was just a series of bad timing? Palmer missed those early games but when he came back, Fitz had two 100+ yard games. Then Palmer was lost for the season.

In 2013, Palmer's first year with the club and in a new system, Fitz's numbers were down but he was still tickling 1,000 yards and had 10 TD's.

I think Fitz bounces back this year.

What does this mean from a numbers perspective?

I think that 1000 yards and 8 TDs would be a very good season from Fitz.

Fitz is worth every penny and he doesnt even need to catch a pass to prove it. You pay guys like Fitz and fit the team around him. No question in my mind.

Saying that he is being written off much too prematurely. I think he has a sneaky good year. 70 catchs, 900-1100 yards and 8-9 TDs. Well take that with his blocking, culture setting, and overall leadership every day of the week.

If both stay healthy? Okay, maybe a big if, but I think 1,100 and 11.

He won't get as many targets but with the emergence of the rest of the receiving corps, I think the quality of his receptions will improve from his 2013 numbers.

If the outside guys are actually drawing normal attention, Fitz should be able to garner some healthy numbers from the slot. Fitz may not be what he used to be but since his game was never speed, I don't see why he wouldn't do well against zones, safeties, nickle backs and lb's.

JMHO, but Nope on:

Victor Cruz
Keenan Allen
Eric Decker
DeAndre Hopkins
Vincent Jackson
Desean Jackson
Torrey Smith
Jarvis Landry

and I should put Mike Evans on here since he is in year 2 of his career.

Eric Decker ? Sorry, but I cannot agree with that. He is barely the best receiver on his own team.

Fitzgerald is easily the most unappreciated Cardinals player over the last few years, with Patrick Peterson a close second.

Some people will complain about the harp music in heaven.

Play 16 games.

The only numbers I care about from Fitzgerald this year is how many 1st down conversions he makes on 3rd downs.

That and his continued blocking in the running game, and passing game.

I mean I know we are all angry that our Fantasy Football teams won't benefit from Fitzgerald being an all around great player when it comes to doing his role on this team, but I personally do not care. How many plays can the man make to help this team win football games.

I think you're underrating Vincent Jackson and DeSean Jackson. Take a quick look at their numbers. Those guys played with a rotating cast of 2012 Cardinals-level QBs.

I think that your appreciation from the fans is in inverse proportion to your paycheck. I'm not sure how anyone can say that Fitzgerald is under-appreciated when the slightest suggestion that he's overpaid or his play is slipping is shouted down. When there's such a disconnect between your level of exposure/pay and your production on the field, that doesn't necessarily go unnoticed.

Really?! An $11M cap number (4th among WRs) for a possession receiver is a lot of scratch. Essentially, Larry Fitzgerald is the league's highest-paid tight end.

I wish I could be under appreciated and make one of the highest salaries for non QBs in the NFL every single season.....

That's an interesting use of the word "under appreciated". If that's the case, I think 99% of the world population would love to be under appreciated like Fitz has been.
