as most things about the Cardinals, the media does not know crap and had to all of sudden pay attention to a team they for the most part ignored when we started winning. Boldin was the fastest to 400 and not Fitzgerald. Shane is right and the true facts are right. It is hard to follow this team now with accuracy presented by the media trying to makeup for years of seeing past Cardinal player achievements but for a change it is enjoyable to witness the media's errors :)

yes, the youngest and not he fastest to the that mark makes sense in the case of Fitz, so the media still screwed it up with the wording LOL

think of this though...even without Warner...Boldin got to that number the fastest :D

These recievers deserve all the props they get, but the one common link of 3 out of the 5 is Kurt Warner. It's really too bad he came into the league so late, can't imagine what kind of numbers Fitz and Boldin could have over the next 5 years if it were possible to keep those 3 together.
I see where you are going with that, but he'd be the same age. ;)

I posted a comparison of the first five seasons of Fitz and Q in comparison to three other guys (Jerry Rice, Torry Holt and Randy Moss) who got off to very fast starts in their NFL career. My goal was to try and compare their young careers to some of the great receivers of all time to get an idea of what is to come. Basically I started with the 'all-time' leaders in receptions and narrowed the sample group down to guys that had at least three 1,000 yard seasons in their first five years in the league. I'm sure there were other receivers that had done this but, as I said, I started with guys who were already in the top 10 in receptions, all-time. The results were pretty surprising, but I'll spare you all the details and post just the final lines of comparison:

Player Games GS Rec Yards Avg TDs
Boldin 68 66 413 5,458 13.2 29
Fitzgerald 76 76 426 5,975 14.0 46
Holt 80 70 423 6,784 16.0 35
Moss 80 75 414 6,743 16.3 60
Rice 76 63 346 6,364 18.4 66

Worth while comparison? Anyone think Fitzy has any chance of catching Moss before his career is over (and remember Fitz is two years younger at the end of their fifth season)?

Here you go, I cleaned it up a bit for you to make it more readable:

Code:
Player Games GS Rec Yards Avg TDs
Boldin 68 66 413 5,458 13.2 29
Fitzgerald 76 76 426 5,975 14.0 46
Holt 80 70 423 6,784 16.0 35
Moss 80 75 414 6,743 16.3 60
Rice 76 63 346 6,364 18.4 66
Bruce 61 312 4,663 14.9 29

Hint: Format this in Notepad, copy and paste between the Code tags.

Unfortunately for Fitz, that was one of the most attainable of Rice's records. Fitz would need close to 10 years of injury free, production laden football. If anybody can do it though, Fitz can.

The problem with catching Rice will be trying to match his production in the twilight of his career, I mean the guy had back to back 1,000 yard seasons at the age of 39 & 40.

To get an idea of what Fitz is up against, if we triple his current stats (which would assume he posts similar numbers until the age of 35), he'd be 271 receptions, 4,970 yards and 59 TDs behind Rice. That's assuming he doesn't lose any major time to injuries, but it also factors in a couple of down years so that's might even be construed as a conservative estimate.
