I'm sure all of you saw this, however, since it's his bday, I thought I would point it out.
Michelle Tafoya wanted to interview Larry during the game last night. However, Larry being Larry, he grabbed John Brown and brought Smoke to the interview as well. Michelle started the interview by asking Fitz why he decided to bring Brown to the interview... and Larry simply replied that Smoke is the future for the Cards. This is partly the reason for Fitz dragging Brown to the interview. What was not said is that Fitz was doing what mentors should do - looking to help out stars like Brown in any way possible. In this case, Fitz knew that it would be beneficial to Brown to get his name and face put on national TV. He also knows that it would be helpful for Brown, longer term, to get increasingly comfortable being interviewed, particularly by national media pros like Tafoya.

I know this seems trite, however, it's one of the character traits I love most about Fitz. He could've easily taken the spotlight for himself. Virtually every other veteran star would've/does...
I don't know what kind of year Larry will have this upcoming season and given the performance of the o-line last night, I'm not feeling to optimistic...
However, regardless of the numbers, there remains tremendous value in Fitz being with this team.

Wife and I actually said the same thing during the interview. Fitz was extremely gracious.

My thought is that once his career is in the books how great would it be to be given a job with the front office!!

I don't see Fitz in a Front Office type job anytime soon... Maybe many, many years after he retires. He'll probably retire when he's 36/37 or so. That's still young in normal, non-athlete years. He just isn't the type to be tied down. I can see him doing things that relate to his interests of travel, adventure, charity... and I can see him doing that for quite a few years post-retirement.

I could easily see him being a roving ambassador for the league, or even for the Cardinals after his retirement.

Since he became a part of our football family here in AZ, Larry has always been my favorite Cardinal. However, he became my favorite athlete of all time on January 1, 2012 when we beat the Seahawks, in overtime, to finish a miserable 8-8 season.

That game meant nothing, there was nothing but pride on the line. Larry played his heart out, caught 9 passes for 149 yards, while coughing up blood from the brutal hits he was taking. He stayed in the game and led the team to a victory to end the season. I seriously got choked up at the end of that game while in the stadium we were all chanting LARRY, LARRY, LARRY. We didn't know he was coughing up blood at the time, but you could see the big hits taking their toll and Larry refused to come out. It was a special moment that I will never forget. Larry is the man and so the class he shows in interviews never surprises me, but you're right 82, it's STILL worth pointing out. He is a special guy and we are very lucky to have him and I look forward to his name being up in the ROH.

Yeah I really enjoyed that interview. Great call by Fitz if it was his idea to drag him over there. Smoke's had some limited national exposure with his td dance and what not. But I think it's all been call ins. There's nothing like getting that face time in full blown HD.
