Looking at everyones opinions of movies I thought maybe it'd be interesting to see what movies everyone thought were the most complete waste of time and money...

My five(from the last 10 yrs or so)...

1) Drowning Mona--Bette Midler, Danny Devito. Total garbage but in my defense my wife (GF at the time) wanted to see it NOT me. I've tried to totally erase the memory of this movie..to no avail.

2) War of the Worlds--Great special effects, poor acting, poor storytelling and too long. I bought in to the hype and expected a good sci fi story and left thinking I was robbed.

3) Stay--Stupid plot, dragged its feet all movie long. I normally like Ewan McGregor, this was terrible.

4) Punch Drunk Love--This movie nearly made me completely blackball Adam Sandler from any of my future movie plans.

5) Hulk--Stupid story, stupid villian and entirely too long. Not to mention that ridiculous CG hulk

1) The Thin Red Line (I know, I know...this movie was AMAZING...blah. )
2) North
3) James & The Giant Peach (loved the book...was SO looking forward to the movie--major disappointment)
4) Fifth Element (again, I know...great movie...I hated it)

Can't remember any others...don't get to the movies very often anymore.

I hated Thin Red Line too, YAWN. I know it got all kinds of critical acclaim and was packed with "stars" but it was so stinking slow.

But I loved the Fifth Element (own it on DVD)

I can handle The Fifth Element now--at the time I think I was expecting something other than what I was getting. Now that I know what to expect, I can appreciate it some...I'm very happy to see that you didn't like the Thin Red Line...I honestly can't see how anyone could even tolerate that movie...longest 3 hours of my life. :)

I've only seen War of the Worlds from your list, btw, and not in the theater. I liked it okay, but I was glad I saw it on dvd.

Weekend at Bernie's 2.

Hands down - nothing else even deserves to be in a top 5 list because Bernie's 2 is so bad it takes up 1-5 IMO.

the only 2 movies i've ever walked out of the theater on were:

1) The Lady Killers
2) Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Ghostrider I would have walked out of if I hadn't been with 5 other people

AI ....just awful. Worst movie I've ever seen.

(and, FWIW, Thin Red Line is one of my favorites)

That's the one I was going to list. I thought it was over 10 times before it was--and was hoping against hope that this time, it would really be over. Argh

I applaud you--you must have not seen very many bad movies if AI is the worst you've ever seen...

I don't know about top 5, but the worst movie I've ever seen in a theater BY FAR is The Village.

Eh, I thought the Village was pretty average. Maybe below average, but it didn't grate on my nerves like AI.

Usually I can find redeeming qualities in a movie that makes it entertaining...but even a fantastic performance by Jude Law couldn't save that one for me.

Totally. I rarely see a bad movie in the theatre. The only reason I saw A Perfect Storm, is because the movie that I wanted to see had too many seats left.

I've got you all beat. I sat through The Jerky Boys with the two biggest Jerky Boys fans in the world. Most intolerable movie I've ever witnessed. I almost cried, and not in a Brian's Song kind of way. More like an Abu Grahib kind of way.

I was lucky enough to be with sensible people when we walked out of Battlefield Earth. We didn't even make it 20 minutes into Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life. I did not pick these movies.

I was not so lucky with the Larry the Cable Guy movie or the second Ace Ventura. Painful. Not quite torture, but beyond my tolerance to bear without shutting down. (I paid $10 to sleep in a semi-comfortable chair).

I liked Crouching Tiger, never saw Lady Killers.

I just thought of another one, saw it recently--Pathfinder, about the Vikings invading america and fighting native Americans until they run in to one of their own who was rasied by the Indians...yawn.

I go to the movies a lot. I work nights so I can catch a matinee for less $$ and still have time after the movie to get stuff done. It also allows me to see movies that my wife wouldn't go to since she works during the day--which means anything sci fi, super hero, horror type movie.

I loved CTHD. House of Flying Daggers was great as well. I still need to see Hero.

Battlefield Earth(great book, worst movie ever)

Titanic (a bunch of sniveling teenage girls is bad enough but when they get mad at you for laughing when the dude bounced off the propeller, well lets just say I hated that movie)
