I worked at a movie theater as an usher and had to watch "Mouse Hunt" about 5000 times. It got to the point where I could leave for a while and while outside of earshot mouth the lines exactly. It was abysmal.

I can't think of many others.

Cable Guy. I know what some of you are going to say that you love that movie. In fact, I can tolerate that movie and actually like it more now then I did when I got to see the movie originally.

I actually went to a pre-screening of this movie. I have been to lots of pre-screenings. With my old company they used to ask us all the time. At any rate, I have never been to a pre-screening before where I actually saw people leaving the theater in droves. In a pre-screen no less.

I actually watched about 35 to 40 people walk out during the movie. The studio people were stunned. I had one sitting about 5 feet from me. She said "uh oh". It was funny. At any rate, I hated the movie then. Maybe it was just that the part was different from a normal Jim Carrey movie. Maybe it was the publicity about his huge salary causing unrealistic expectations.

I just hated the movie then. I find it mildly entertaining now. I don't know why but I do. As far as my other 4? I am a movie buff so that is a tough call.

i can see that - Cable Guy was COMPLETELY marketed as the opposite of what it really was - a dark comedy. Hardly early typical-Carrey fair. The movie definitely grew on me over the years.

I love The Cable Guy. It was so subversive and was so different than what Jim Carrey usually did at that time (Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura). In hindsight, it was definitely a "progressional" film for him, leading to roles in The Truman Show and Man in the Moon.

Only two movies really make this list:

Number one by far: Battlefield Earth. Pile of ass movie...terrible. Saw this with a lot of people and my brother in law was the only person who liked it..I would have been worried, but my wife, her other brother and dad were there too and they all hated it too. We teased Dan about that movie for years. Hands down the worst movie I've ever seen. I try not to watch bad movies...especially not in the theater.

Number two. Beloved. Went to this with my wife and her sister. Crap this movie was terrible. Seriously..rambling and no point at all. I wanted to poke my eyes out at the end and it remains the first movie, and last, that I actually REALLY wanted the three hours of my life back when it was over. Nothing redeeming about it at all.

A distant third is Pitch Black. Whatever, that movie sucked.

I don't think any other theater movies I've been to sucked like that. Snakes on a Plane sucked, but I was going BECAUSE it would suck so I don't count that.

The English Patient. I know there was a bit on Seinfeld where Elaine hated, but IMO it really was incredibly dull.

My sister was a Russian major so she made us go to this Russian movie a couple of years ago. It was notable for being shot in one continuous take. That really was the most boring movie I've ever seen.

The most people I've ever seen walk out was during Blair Witch Project.

Worst movie I ever saw in a theater was From Dusk til Dawn.
Worst DVD was The Whole Ten Yards, this was truly horrible.

Theater movie that made me feel the worst was Seven.

Devil's Advocate for me. I walked out of that movie feeling dirty, looked over at my buddy and said, "Lets go find a church."

I'm all for artistic license and all, but what was Gibson thinking having Jesus crucified? Where was that in the Bible? Nowhere. Completely hijacked the story.

Huh?

Isn't the crucification sort of central to Christianity?

Took my kids to that, thought it was actually a very good story. A horribly sad movie though.

Yeah, Nasser doesn't know what he's talking about with that movie. I thought it was well done and with the book. Very sad, though not as sad as I remember the book.

Ah, this triggered my 4th worst movie in the theater. Any Given Sunday. Maybe it was because it was the midnight showing and the movie was waaay long. Maybe because it wasn't that good. Maybe it was the horse-penis man getting screen time. Maybe it was a combo of all of that, but I didn't enjoy that theater experience.

Maybe you don't know what you're talking about. :) Even my brother who liked the book was laughing at it. It was more of a comedy for me actually. It was so stupid, imo. None of the 5th grade teachers or any of the people my brother knew came out of the theater impressed.

Edit: Of course I was totally surprised to find out what this movie was about so I guess that was part of the disappointment + boredom.

:hulk: Actually, I'm getting pretty good at my turns now. I'm so proud of myself. :)
You should stick to Chipotle reviews and leave the movies to those of us who can drive without hitting curbs. :p
