Right but apparently it's an NFL rule that you can't have alcohol on team planes(per PFT) and the entire intent of said rule is so you don't have players getting off the plane drunk, and driving.

So if Floyd really got drunk on the plane, to this extent, the Cards are going to be investigated and should be.

I agree Michael Floyd is responsible for his own actions, but to get THAT drunk it's not like he just hid a couple of cans of beer as he got on the plane.

But again I think it's pretty likely he's not telling the truth about where he consumed the alcohol.

Cards would have landed at what, 9-10 PM? He was arrested at 3 am, 6 hours later. I would bet majority of drinks (if not all) were after he landed - probably went straight to Scottsdale from the Training Facility (or wherever they park)

I'm sure part of the reason the Cardinals dropped him so quickly was his bogus story that he had drinks on the plane. When Floyd and his lawyer didn't fess up to a night on the town, the Cardinals said "See Ya!"

We need to know what time they got off the plane in relation to the arrest. He was arrested officially at 2:48 a.m.

You figure they left Miami 2-3 hours after the game and you still gain 2 hours AZ time. Assuming he started drinking an hour after landing I think that would be plenty of time to get as blasted as he was.

Right as someone else said I think part of why we cut him was that he was clearly not telling the truth and we figured he clearly hasn't learned any lesson here time to move on.

Aside from just the timing it's the sheer amount of drinking he'd have had to do on the plane, someone would have seen him.

(in CLUE voice) I believe: Absolutely no way was he this plastered getting off the plane. In fact, I doubt he was even tipsy. He may have had 1 or 2 on the plane, but he was still well under.08 at that point.

From the plane back to the stadium to their cars at the stadium, they have to pass countless personell guys who wouldve noticed if he were the slightest bit inebriated.

I wasnt there, but logic tells me 100% of this drunkenness was done on his own time away from the team.

Hell, he might have had the ball rolling with some hard stuff stashed on the plane for the trip back. My deal is this, and I am sure someone like Shane who is a police officer would understand which makes this incident even more concerning, and that this is maybe the first time he actually got caught after more than a few times he had done the same thing but was fortunate not to get caught

I also have to agree with PFT on this, if he got that drunk while on a team plane, the Cards need to explain to the NFL how when NFL rules prohibit alcohol on team planes, someone can not only get alcohol, but get enough to get THAT drunk?

But then given the whole story it's not clear to me Floyd is actually telling the truth about where he was drinking since he's gone between I had one drink and I had 2 drinks. Unless said drinks were a bathtub full of alcohol he's clearly not telling the truth.

He was at the W Hotel bar from what I understand. The plane should have landed hours earlier.

Something I was talking about with a friend tonight... I believe that Floyd likely has a major alcohol problem and probably has all season. I don't know that any team mates or staff even knew. He probably hid it well.

On Floyd's play this year: Floyds missed routes and yips on catches made very little sense. It was like he was overthinking a lot of the time. Even on catches he did make, he often would move his hands and catch the ball shakily on impact - no matter how well Palmer put the ball right where it needed to be

Now think about what probably was going on if he did in fact have a drinking problem: he likely made excuses and would drink during the week, but would stop drinking on Saturday before the game. This would explain his yips and concentration issues in game time 100%. If you have known an alcoholic, this makes a lot of sense to you. Additionally, I do still think that he had something else in his system in that video, and it looks to me like how people act when they have mixed xanax with alcohol. He could be prescribed something for his nerves due to the yips and anxiety he had on gameday and revolving around his personal issues - when in reality he just needed to quit drinking to reduce those issues.

Look, this is all a theory and I hope it isn't true. But it just makes too much sense. Someone who doesn't drink regularly isn't going to be getting behind the wheel of a car to drive at a .217 - because they are going to be sick and passed out long before that.

Here's the bigger questions...He tested .217, only after he refused a test in the field...How much higher might it have been, had he blown into the machine, while still sitting in his car?

Very well could have been lower depending on what he was drinking, when he was drinking, the time off his chemical test and other stuff he was on.

I'm sure that will be something they argue to get this out of the super extreme range

refusing to take a test leads me to believe the same.

Just about every lawyer will advise you to never submit to field sobriety or other testing for impairment/alcohol use. The usual advice is to "make" the cops get a warrant.

Doesn't seem right to me. Unless ALL Dui's are videoed and posted on the internet, I don't know why selective ones are.

I know a guy who got off DUI charges that way. It was a common tactic in the legal field for a while: "I had 5 beers in 25 minutes and began driving my 2 minutes home when I was pulled over 2 blocks from my house; the cops sat on me for 45 minutes before drawing my blood 25 minutes after that. When they tested it, I was .1, but I was likely a .04 at the time of the traffic stop."

I think its irrelevant anymore because if you show ANY signs of impairment (i.e. forgot to signal a lane change) and have ANY amount of alcohol in your system (.012), you can be cited for DUI. I believe this legislative change was implemented to limit the above argument.

He didn't get that drunk on a team plane. They would have never let him leave. Here is my impression of that stop;

Anyone can go in and request bodycam footage, reports, etc. The freedom of information act allows it. I doubt Scottsdale PD just offered it up, but I bet they were receiving requests for everything related to the incident within the first hour the were open that Monday morning.

I could highjack this thread real quick on this topic.

I dont believe anybodys information should ever be released until they are convicted and found guilty. Much like minors are treated in court cases, complete anonymity. I believe that should be extended to all people. Because there are certain accusations where you are permanently found guilty in the court of public opinion, even if the actual court finds you innocent.

This is the problem, we don't take DUI seriously.

40 years ago in the UK they took your license away for a year for your first offence ..Period .. No special circumstances like getting to school or work. 2nd offence, 3 years.

Caught driving and you go to jail and not for 45 days.

This was 40 years ago and most areas in the US have not caught up yet.

Disagree. We have the harshest DUI punishment in the country in Arizona. As far as the drivers license goes, it is hard to justify longer suspension when we have zero to offer as far as public transit. Are we trying to have people lose their jobs and livelihoods completely?

And on top of that, not having a license doesn't stop repeat offenders at all. It

COMPLETELY agree with you. Wasn't a big deal before internet and social media, but now it is bad. Not to mention how easy it is to poison a jury pool with that kind of stuff.

That looks really bad for Floyd. He was completely out of it.

.21 is very high.

Yeah, in cases where they can't show impairment it can help (like checkpoints, fishing stops, etc). In other cases it can lower the charge to something like impairment in the slightest degree from a full blown DUI which brings a lower penalty

He was arrested initially on DUI and impairment to the slightest and many were confused how you can get two counts on one stop. After the blood they added both of the higher tier offenses. Will try for the highest, but the other charges are there as a net of you can't prove the top level.

He'll have a hard time not getting at least a standard DUI out of this. Good final BAC was just way too high and he was passed out in his vehicle. Good lawyering may keep him out of extreme or super extreme

The NFL needs to step in and suspend him immediately if they want to not look like complete fools at the hands of the Patriots again.

Agreed.

Which means that Floyd will catch the game-winning TD in the Super Bowel

Michael Floyd speaks about DUI, Cardinals and his new team

“I understand what happened last week was last week and I’m excited about my opportunity here, being a Patriot with a great group of guys, a great group of coaches and an organization that treats people well,” Floyd said in some opening remarks with media members.
