Michael Floyd speaks about DUI, Cardinals and his new team

“I understand what happened last week was last week and I’m excited about my opportunity here, being a Patriot with a great group of guys, a great group of coaches and an organization that treats people well,” Floyd said in some opening remarks with media members.

Is he saying the Cardinals are not a great group of guys and an organization that treats people well?

Michael Floyd: “I think in life, everyone makes mistakes. I couldn’t be in a better position right now with this team.”

what an absolute POS. Mike Bidwill was right, he isnt remorseful.

To chalk this up as "Everybody makes mistakes", yeah but all mistakes are not equal. This pilot crashed into some mountains killing all passengers on board, this other guy got caught stealing post-its at work. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES ??

Edit: I got more to rant on -

And you know what else pisses me off now? Larry.

Larry being all upset when his douchebag friend Mike gets cut because he got his 11th DUI and blows a .217. Hey Larry, be a better judge of character.

you should hear the guys on 98.7 right now, gambo is blasting this chump to the moon.

mike also said something along the lines of "when you're in the spotlight (of the nfl) you can't make those mistakes."

I get his point, but I dont like that framing.

Being in the limelight has nothing to do with it. Joe Shmoe at home depot can drive drunk and kill innocents just the same as if he were the Sheikh of Arabia. Nobody should do it. Period. Your job or social standing is irrelevant.

Apparently Bill Belichik didn't know his level was 'extreme." Sounded surprised but would not comment on Floyd's ongoing legal issues. I would not be surprised if they let him walk after the season is over.

That was their plan all along. He is a free agent after the season is over and they were never going to sign him long term IMO.

You never know. His price just went down further. 30 teams passed on him before the Pats picked him up. Maybe a little tough love from BB is what he needs. At the right discounted, incentive laden contract, who knows? Many NFL players have done worse and are still playing.

No. If you read the entire interview he praises Bidwill & the org. Except the writer spells it Bidwill. Terrible.

On comments from Cardinals GM Michael Bidwill: “I love that organization. I love Mr. Bidwill. He treated me very well. I really don’t have too big of a comment on him saying that. Right now I’m glad I’m here. I’m in a good place right now mentally. These guys brought me in as family and I’m excited to be here.”

More of a back-handed compliment, IMHO

On whirlwind of waking up as a Patriot: “I’m excited. I couldn’t be in a better place. Being on a different team, you see how they do things and how they go about it, and how they win all the team. I’m grateful to be here on a winning team.”

What else is he going to say about a new team? It could have been a better place? I think you are reaching a little here Jon.

I was watching the local news last night, I think it was Bruce Cooper and another guy. They were going over Floyd's comments to the media yesterday.

They essentially said the same thing in nicer words. They were shaking their heads at the comment by Floyd when asked if he had scene the video yet and he said he no because he doesn't go on social media. The same for the comment about "Learning from my mistake"... Again!

Floyd is such a coddled wuss.

It all goes back to his college days. Arrested for DUI with a history of underage drinking offenses already under his belt, he was suspended, but only missed practices. Did not miss any game time at all. His coach said, "What good would it do?" Uh, how about teaching him that actions have consequences? Seriously, this guy needs major help. .19 in college and .217 just the other day. Those are extreme DUI numbers. I hope he gets help before he kills himself or others.

We're past that. It sounds like he's had chances at help, but himself and his privilege have gotten in the way. I hope he GOES TO JAIL before he kills himself or others. THEN I hope he gets more help.

Maybe we should start drafting WRs based on their IQ. Fitz's I'm sure is pretty good. But think of the losers we have drafted high besides Fitz over the last decade or two. So much wasted energy.

Whether you like or hate BB, he knows how to handle the press. From an USA today article:

New England coach Bill Belichick revealed Thursday that the team was unaware of the extent of Floyd’s DUI. The BAC results as well as video footage of Floyd’s arrest, recorded on a Scottsdale police officer’s body camera, were released Wednesday.

Belichick declined additional comment when asked if the new information changed the team's opinion on Floyd or their decision to claim him. A BAC of .217 would be considered an “extreme DUI” under Arizona law, and Floyd could face mandatory jail time.

“He's in a legal situation. I can't comment on his legal situation,” Belichick said. “I appreciate you asking about it, though. I really do.”

Translation...even though we know, now, we don't care...if he helps us win, he will play.

What the Cardinals do well is draft WRs. Maybe the Floyds and Bostons do not workout but they have their moments. Cardinal history tells me finding another stud is the least of our problems, and also tells me Sissy knows little about Cardinal history and the position
