The offense not scoring any points with all of the great stats sure did not help the defense out at all. The offense is supposed to be the teams strong unit.

That's the thing Shane. Pitt isn't a good team. They were down to their 3rd string QB and destroyed our defense.

Ide Say Pitt is a good team… Certainly better coached then us.. When Big Been comes back they are legit.

Haley > Bettcher.

That was where we should have had the advantage today and Haley worked the Cards defense in the second half with garbage QBs.

The worst case scenario played out IMO. Vick got hurt & in stepped a better passer in Jones. I didn't think the Stealers stood a chance against us today with Vicks ineptitude & it played out that exact way.

But they didn't have Ben... Or even his backup. That was a bad team we got undressed by in the second half.

Totally agree Shane... I knew going into the halftime that we were setup for this embarrassment...
We cooked up the perfect recipe for this loss, as we stole victory right out of our own hands.

-3 in the turnover margin
Couldn't get the ball in the end zone
Massive amount of STUPID penalties (yes, a few were bogus, but most were not)
Never able to establish the run game
Badger got toasted and worse, allows Bryant to go the distance
And then Landry Jones enters the game and, as we all know, the one most consistent theme with this franchise over the decades is that they are truly great at turning back-ups into hall of fame caliber performers. This was Jones' FIRST NFL game!! FIRST!!

Palmer had his chances and couldn't make the plays when the team needed him most. That said, there were a few drops that were so costly. And Floyd should've found a way to get his foot down in the end zone...
John Brown is simply amazing and played his heart out today.
The 0-line was not great, but good enough to produce a win. That said, Palmer did take some huge shots today...
What the heck is up with DJ and his fumbles on kickoffs????

What a terrible, terrible, terrible loss... And now Seattle will likely get their win later on and will be just a game back. The roller coaster ride is just beginning...

Bettcher was garbage for the most part. Never adjusted to a 3rd string QB.

This is week 6 and I don't see him getting a whole lot better or improving as the season progresses.

It amazes me how people are so wishy washy about this team (for lack of a better term). When they have a blow out win its all about how great they are, when they lose to a lesser team its how they are overrated. Not directed at you Shane because you've always been a little skeptical about the current team.

Don't state the obvious Shane, the Be-liebers need their hope.

We are better now than the Warner teams. Even though Warner is better than Carson. We have more weapons. We just don't finish. The refs do make a huge difference. We can easily be 6-0. If the refs make 2 correct calls. If we get the ram fumble We win. If they call any of the interference calls correctly we win. So it is What it is. But the nfl refs for some reason doesn't like us.

This is what I think also. Our lack of pass rush won't allow us to make noise in the playoffs, nor will our lack of a clutch QB.

Not that big of deal. The Cards are 4-2 and still lead their division. If we end the regular season with 10+ wins and are in the playoffs nobody will remember this loss. Move along!

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I'm having trouble figuring how we definitely win if we get that fumble in the Rams game. How many times were we in the red zone and couldn't score TD's. We weren't guaranteed to get 7 out of that even if they give us the ball. Instead we stopped them, they had a short punt, and we scored I believe our only TD on a long play to DJ in the middle. Except for the time it took I would almost say we were lucky they made that atrocious call. Certainly I don't understand how you can say it definitely cost us the game.

The Rams game we just lost and their defense made some great plays while the Cardinals defense laid a giant egg in the second half (similar to today).

Now today's game I totally agree with you. Take away a few really, really bad calls and we still win this game despite some of our own poor plays. And it's not like you can go back and say, "yeah well here were some bad calls that went in favor of the Cardinals." It was really lopsided today. And still if the Cardinals played disciplined and just fewer mistakes they win the game.

I was also expecting the worst when Michael Vick went down. There were people wide open all day. They just needed a quarterback that could get them the ball in their general vicinity.

Everything went the steelers way today the same way as the Rams game. So we are 4-2 and both our losses had highly questionable officiating and opposing team seemed to have every thing go their way, like Vick getting hurt I mean they weren't doing anything with Vick 2 fgs. It's not like tomlin made the choice of going with the better QB he was forced into it and it made them better. I think as the season progresses people will see both the Rams and steelers are not bad teams.

Pittsburg is a good team. With the way our pass rush looked today Ben would've picked us apart. Sucks that Vick got hurt because it was a blessing for them.

We had no business losing to the Rams at home and a Big Ben-less Steelers team. I think elite teams (GB, Pats etc) would have found a way to win both of those games.

at the very worst, they split those games. I don't think anyone can argue at this point that we're elite. Our Ws are against the dregs of the league and the only two remotely mediocre teams (which is even being nice considering the Steelers were down to their 3rd QB and the Rams aren't even .500) we played beat us.

truth is... we've had a CAKE schedule and come out of it 4-2. That ain't elite.

Losing at home was much tougher to stomach. Losing to an AFC team isn't the end of the world. If St Louis ends up a good team that loss could haunt us.
