behind Gaines Adams, Adam Carriker, and can't remember the other guy. Mayock also has the Nelson dude from Florida (safety) rated as his 4th best safety.

Not saying that Mike Mayock is the master draftsman, but he did predict that Buffalo would go with the safety from Ohio State last year when everyone else had him as a low first round pick at best. Mayock also had us nabbing Leinart before everyone else thought that was even a possibility.

Who knows this time of year. I've never seen Jamal Anderson play, so I don't have an opinion. His stats seem pretty good and he plays in the best conference in football.

I'd take Landry over Nelson anyday. I hope Landry is our pick if we don't pick up a FA is the FS position.

The second guy looks more like a DE.

He's weird, he also has Reggie Nelson as his 8th or 9th best DB. Last year he said Leinart was a 2nd round prospect. I appreciate he makes his own judgements on players, but sometimes he is way off.

Anderson's best football may be in front of him. He just turned 21 this month and is nearly three years younger than Gaines Adams who turns 24 this summer. Adams is a pure pass rusher who is very poor against the run, while Anderson can rush the passer but excels at stopping the run. I'm sure Adams will run his forty in the high 4.5's or a 4.6 at the combine, while Anderson's time will be ordinary like a 4.8. Adams is more game ready today while Anderson needs more game experience. Mayock's opinion of Anderson may improve as the process continues.

All that tells me is the guy is WAY off on his player evaluations compared to the rest of the league (or he likes going for the shock value/surprise pick thing to hang his hat on), and he knows somebody in Buffalo who tipped him off about their draft last year.

For what its worth -- Mayock seems to put a fair amount of stock on Senior Bowl week -- and Adam Carriker reportedly was without a doubt the best defensive lineman in practice on either side that week

Mayock is good at DB evaluations and that's it. He seems to base everything else on workout numbers and that's what alot of scouts do but you have to take into account production on the field.
