Nabers is finding ways to get open through double teams despite NY having a joke running game, no mobile QB distracting the defense, and no superstar TE to draw coverage. Nabers isn't being schemed open, he's just faster and has better fakes/double moves. He's just harder to cover from a physical talent standpoint.
But the real pick was Bowers. Bowers has more catches than any player in the NFL right now, more than Lamb/Chase and he's a monster blocker. He is the best TE in the league as a rookie and TE is supposed to be the hardest position to make the NFL jump to. He just got finished destroying Trent McDuffie last game.
Yeah we have McBride, but we already live in 12/13 personnel. Bowers would have just pushed Higgins down the depth chart. We could have gotten Ladd McConkey in the 2nd or used the late 1st rounder (another guy who is significantly outperforming MHJ). McConkey is a killer in the slot and we could have kept Michael Wilson as X.
