Nobody, not even cheese, is saying he hasn't had successes. A broken clock is right twice a day, after all.

Yes, we are set to get a top pick. And while I like Bender, he and Alex Len (and to a lesser extent Josh Jackson) prove that McD isn't the best at drafting high.

And just FYI, #timeline actually was coined by Greg Esposito after an reporter mentioned the word timeline in an article about the Suns.
But that reporter was taking about comments made by Sarver about planning to build systematically to be competitive in 2020.

You asked what would make me think that. I told you. McD has been right much more than he has been wrong and better than most Gm’s out there IMO. Sigh. No point in writing more. Everyone is going to see it they way they want to.

I'm not sure about Aaron Gordon either but he is the type of marginal star potential player the Suns should go after.

The Suns are unlikely to get top stars at this stage of their progression.

Agreed. And if he pans out, Elfrid pans out, and for the first time ever we get lucky and net ayton. We become a future juggernaut!

Elfrid, Gilgeous-Alexander (Miami pick)
Booker, Reed
Jackson, Warren
Gordon, chriss
Ayton, Bender

A guy can wish . . .

Wow, I really like that lineup, although I am unfamiliar with Gilgeous-Alexander. And I'm a bit on the fence about Reed.

I'd rather have J. Parker at PF
I think going after Jabari Parker is a legit idea this summer. He has had injury problems but he is a legit pf and Milwaukee might not want to try to resign him. Maybe they would take their pick back in exchange for relinquishing their matching rights. That would probably be worth it.

I would love to have Landry Shamet. He is a very efficient shooter and can run the point. He also plays D. He would be a great player off the bench.

Daniels would be a better backup at SG than Reed based on what we've seen so far. Daniels is good in the instant offense role off the bench but if his shot is off then he's not worth that much time. However backing up Booker he'd get the least amount of time anyways.

Reed's salary is only half guaranteed next season.

I like this as long as Warren is okay coming off the bench. Also, we still have Chandler next season to play backup C. I think we could move on from Chriss/Bender if there isn't more progress next season. Plenty of vets who provide more.

If we can get that lineup somehow, I could give a flying F how Warren feels there.

Our surest shot at adding another star is to trade for Kawhi. The draft is far from a sure thing, and getting FAs right now is near impossible. We'd probably have to move Warren + Chandler + protected pick(s) or Knight + unprotected pick(s). The core would be Booker, Kawhi, Jackson, our 2018 first -- everyone else is trade bait or expendable.

And play him... at the 4?

I would care. That bench is worst in the league without him.

He’s locked up for five years and he wouldn’t be able to bang for a trade because he’s just not THAT good to demand one. So, even if he’s upset... too bad.

Reality is with Jackson, his days are numbered in the starting lineup if this squad if going to take the next step.

Idk, Jackson could take that next step beginning next season. If his play recognition catches up, we could have Kawhi and Jackson as two-way players and Booker torching back courts on a nightly basis.

Maybe we could run that... Jackson at the 3, Kawhai at the 4... but that’s pretty small ball. Unless we got a Bamba or really solid defensive C.

Bamba would be amazing in that lineup. He has like an eight-foot wingspan. Exciting playoff team in year one, quite possibly.

If Kawhi is available you do whatever it takes. Top-3 pick, Jackson, maybe they’d want Bender with their international influence and future picks etc. There isn’t a better fit on the wing for Booker to play with.

I realize you’d have to win right away for him to stay but he’s a top-5 player in his prime.
