As I recall the Suns would not pay Amare Stoudemire $100 million coming off an injury so I can't see the Suns doing it for Parker.

As I understand it, Parker has torn the ACL in his left knee twice.
But Amare had bone on bone in his knee and had microfracture. This is different.

Of course Amare and Parker had different injury problems but have a history of serious injury... this is my point.

The Suns would not pay top dollar for Amare because of his injury problems. I don't think they pay $100 million to Parker who has a history of serious injury as well.

You’re playing with giving that much money to a guy who’s torn the same ACL twice... especially at such a young age.

Even more so giving it to a bad knee guy who hasnt really proven anything in the court when healthy.

Well. I didn’t exactly say how much money. I am not sure what it would take to sign him.

It's a valid argument.

The Suns would have likely had to give up Bledsoe, Josh Jackson and something more like the Miami pick or Bender.

One has to wonder if Irving would have been happy in Phoenix though.
Rumor was it that Cavs just wanted Bledsoe and Jackson, nothing more.

You can’t worry about a Star player’s happiness before you acquire them. You trade for them with plan to make them happy here.

You are a fool if you don't especially when they are on the short end of their contract. I am thrilled we did not trade Jackson for Kyrie. JJ is turning out to be just fine. We would be looking at Kyrie walking, and he would, it was the wrong time in the rebuilding process to put all our eggs in that basket.

This is a loser mindset.

Imagine if Minnesota has this same thought process before acquiring Butler? Instead their acquisition of Butler turned out to be the best move in their franchise history.

It would have been hard to give up Jackson.

The rumors I read the Cavaliers wanted more.

“Best move in their franchise history?” Ehh someone named Kevin Garnett and the rest of the universe whose heard of him would disagree.

I would have given Bledsoe for almost nothing but I wouldn't have traded him straight up for Kyrie - he'd have been a poison pill, IMO.

Maybe but I would have done that.

Always could trade Kyrie later.

I am really hoping LAL cuts loose Randle in their pursuit of bigger FA's and PHX snaps him up as he is really playing extremely well this last half of the season. I would go after him over Gordon. I hope LA doesn't come to their senses and decides to build around their young pieces instead of going for George, Lebron and others.

Depending where we go in the draft, if we go center, here's who I'm going after as my number 1 target.

I like aaron gordon too, but a healthy parker is the best player out of gordon/randle/parker.

I've been checking on him since he came back, and he's gotten his explosiveness. Just turned 23, so fits perfect with the timeline, and just yesterday washington post had an article saying he could leave, as bucks have a lot of money in middleton and bledsoe.

No more damaged products for me, Bledsoe was the last time I want to see us willingly swimming in that pond. Gordon is younger and healthier than Jabari but I get putting Parker above him. But I don't see how Parker's been a better player than Randle.

A power forward who cannot stretch the floor is terrible for booker, we've seen that all year, just collapse the defense on him. Obviously whoever they get as the starting pg needs to be able to shoot as well (patrick beverly?)

Parker is shooting 38% from 3, and he'll either get open looks with booker, or booker will get open lanes as the defense sticks to parker. His shooting is more consistent than gordon's which is why i have him above.

That's a fair point but Parker has never shown the kind of volume you'd need from that distance. He's making 1 three pointer per game, I don't think that's going to do much for our spacing.

He's not someone you can just leave open to take wide open shots from distance, i.e. marquese chriss, josh jackson, tj warren.

Personally, my dream offseason would be:

1) Obviously, get #1 draft ayton
2) Get both mia/mil picks, trade 1 for patrick beverly. Only making 5 million a year.
3) Sign Jabari Parker or Aaron gordon

Would need to move some of the money between chandler/dudley/knight, you have picks to do that, or stretching and waiving. Also could opt out of alan williams

Can’t do that with Gordon either. He takes 6 threes per game and while only making 33% he has shown improvement.

Parker has shot around 37% the past two seasons, but that is in like 75 total games and only taking about 3 per game (much more selective than Gordon).

No interest in Parker. Mid range shooter, does not rebound or defend. He can score, but not in ways that make it easier for his teammates to score, and he generally gives it all back on the other end.

I tend to think this. TJ is a better team piece than Parker.

Agree on both counts. The injury situation would worry me as well. He is a RFA next season.

Two questions:

1. Who will be willing to sign here?
2. Who's worth shelling out a ton of cash for that will make us better?

Obviously we'd all pay Lebron and Durant $35M to come play for us. But they aren't coming.
I doubt Chris Paul wants to end his career with a bunch of young'ns as well. Otherwise he's a perfect fit for what we need. If healthy.
I don't see anyone at 2, 3, or 4 to overpay to replace what we have. Which essentially limits our interest to 1 and 5.

At PG I could see going after Elfrid Payton. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he does play D which is what our PG will have to do with Book severely limited. He's only an ok passing PG which limits his value, but with Book picking it up in the passing column we may not need a traditional passing PG (who don't exist anymore anyway). Is he worth the $$ we'll have to pay him? I doubt it.

I'd still make a trade for Dinwiddie.

At C, I'm ok with not making a big splash. Just pick up someone who can handle lobs, pick up the trash, and ball out on D. It'll be interesting to see what Dedmon and Noel garner. If they could be had cheap I'd take a shot. They probably won't.

The biggest problem with FAs this year is that we aren't winning anything anytime soon. It's tough to sign a FA who knows the window is lodged shut.

If we draft Doncic and free up a little more cap space I see us making a move on Cousins. They showed interest before and could still be interested.

If there was ever a fast track to making a HUGE splash that would be it.

I don't see how Cousins would be a positive move. Definitely not coming off of his injury. Despite his stats he's never led a team to the postseason. So adding him to the Suns would not make them a playoff team, especially if he misses half of next season because he's still rehabbing from his surgery.

I tried seeing if I could find more info on the typical recovery time for that sort of injury and 36% of NBA and NFL players that suffer that injury never return. That is too high for the Suns to gamble on him. I'd be surprised if anyone other than the Pelicans make him a big money offer. The only reason they would is they have his bird rights and since he was already there they might be the only team that could properly insure a contract for him.
