  • Suns officials confirmed to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic that the organization is enacting furloughs on some employees and pay cuts for many others. Sources tell Rankin that more than 30 employees have been furloughed due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, while remaining employees within all departments are taking 20% pay cuts.

  • Hard to justify some of these contracts when I read stuff like this.

Some owners should evaluate if they are in the right business.

I don't see any other team doing this. Sarver really needs to sell the team.

Are any other teams doing this? Or is Sarver just a complete douche?

This guy is a good follow. He admitted to forgetting Phoenix in a later tweet.

Seems to be a pattern, we are very forgettable. Oh, how do I miss the colangelo Suns.

If Jerry Colangelo could have bought the Suns a championship like he did with the Diamondbacks he would have but the rules changed.

I didn't look anything up as I was joking around but the NBA draft used to go 7 rounds.

It was in the teens (15,14,13 in the 70's) and I believe it was even much higher at one time despite the fact the league was much smaller.

Yeah I hear you, but that’s all we have to compare nowadays with the Saver empire.

There was a time before Colangelo became a primary owner of the Suns, they were on the verge of leaving Phoenix because of poor attendance. He changed all that and made the Suns one of the most winning franchises.

I'm sure that a lot of teams will be doing this or they will be laying off in mass numbers (or both). With expenses going up and income coming down, something has to give.

Alvin Scott who was a popular player was a 7th round pick.

Some reports said that every team was in the red last year and all teams this year will be in the red also.

Yeah and on top of that with little to no fan fare this year and less games there is no way the need as many employees or would they need their employees to likely work as much. Unless you are a multi billionaire I wouldn’t expect you to just eat those costs.

It seems like the local media is frozen out as well. In the past someone in the media would say the Suns are done for the day but not a cheep.

omg this is the strangest free agency period I’ve ever seen. Not a single hey this is what I’m hearing or look for this to happen.

nothing nothing at all. It’s def very odd

Kris Dunn goes to Hawks. He was mentioned as an option for Suns.

The Suns need someone to talk to the fans and media when things are going on. Otherwise it comes over like they don't care.

Personally I'm glad they no longer telegraph their moves.

That's okay but at least have someone talk to the fans and media as to their general intent.

Like it would have been nice to hear someone from the Suns organization say last night that they don't anticipate any moves today.

I don’t recall seeing much of anything being reported for any team unless it was to announce a signing. We haven’t completed a signing yet so we haven’t heard anything.

Normally you would be hearing about teams showing interest in certain players, but that hasn’t been how things have been coming out this free agency.

I don't know how other teams are handling it but the local media in Phoenix seems to be mostly in the dark which is never good. I'm sure the Suns have public relations people on staff. They should use them to at least keep in touch.

While I wouldn’t complain about that I think it is more a matter of you just being impatient. ;)

They still need to fill at least 3 roster spots not including our own free agents. I think it is fair to assume that they are working the phones trying to make some signings.
