The Alex Smith conundrum:

This makes him 2-5 in the playoffs, with one of those wins against a bad Texans team last year.

Yet, his stats in those games are pretty good: 12 tds to only 2 ints. 95 qb rating

Two franchises have concluded he cant get them to where they want to go.......

He can't throw the pass and then catch it. His receivers were dropping balls all over the place today.

I don't know why we'd bother trading for Smith unless we revamp the OL and get some decent WRs.

No doubt. No one with half a brain would put that loss on Smith. Hill dropped 3 passes & the TE that replaced Kelce dropped 2-3 also. This loss is on Reid & will probably cost him his job. I would DEFINITELY go after Smith, but still draft a QB early. And I certainly wouldn’t hire Reid.

I'd like to see Alex Smith and Lamar Jackson both in Cardinals red next season.

Smith led the NFL in passer rating during the regular season and was superb on Saturday. Smith went 24 of 33 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He is one of just six quarterbacks in NFL history to have at least 250 pass attempts in the playoffs and a passer rating over 95. The other five quarterbacks are Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Kurt Warner, Super Bowl champions Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers and 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan. Smith's passer rating on Saturday was 116.2.

Yup. Andy Reid tucked his head into his playbook like a turtle hiding its head. Losing Kelce took half the playbook away. Dropped passes galore. Smith didn't soil the sheets. The rest of the O did.

Cards need a HC and staff first. Hopefully Smith will like what he sees. He is accustomed to playing with mediocre receivers and a mediocre O line. What comes first? The NFL draft or free agent signing. Can trades happen as soon as the playoffs are over. If so maybe this is the timeline.

Sign a HC
Go after the free agent QB to start.
Then find a few stop gap WRs and O lineman
Cram Gabbert into an intense off season development program to be the backup
Grab a 2nd tier QB in draft
Hit it big with rest of the draft

Reid didn't miss the field goal either, the kicker did!

Haven't we as Cards fans heard that line before?

Alex Smith threw for 33 yards in the 2nd half yesterday.

Let’s not forget.

Wouldn't that field goal still have made it a 1 score game?

Whether it would have affected the outcome is debatable, but the Titans won by only 1 point. That field goal would have had the Chiefs win by 2.

I was more making the point about Reid or Smith not being the goat as they were not responsible for the miss... Arians put blame on the players for poor execution. Basically I was being sarcastic about how Cards fans have seen this movie before.
