awesome - i got a little concerned when I strolled through the livingroom and saw the daughter pop up on 90210

Lyla Garrity is the only one they say is not being back from this article...or at least not as a regular.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Friday Night Lights" fans can rejoice: NBC has ordered two more seasons of the critically lauded but ratings-challenged drama series.

The network and DirecTV have finalized a deal for a 26-episode order (two seasons of 13 episodes each) to the series about a Texas high school football team.

Under the pact, "Friday Night Lights" will continue to premiere on DirecTV with a second window on NBC.

Faced with the prospect of canceling the series because of its soft ratings, NBC first struck a pact with DirecTV last year to share the cost of the show's current third season, which did well for the satcaster in the fourth quarter.

Helping make the pickup economically viable is the fact that "Friday Night Lights" is very efficiently produced in Austin, Texas, where the show also enjoys tax incentives. To keep costs even lower, the two upcoming seasons may be filmed back-to-back. Season 4 will air next season, while Season 5 will run the following season.

Additionally, the two-season pickup for "Friday Night Lights" makes the show easier to syndicate as it brings its episode count to 77.

Most "Friday Night Lights" cast members, including stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, are set to return. Not coming back as regular is Minka Kelly, whose character has graduated.

I am liking this season a lot! eventhough I didnt see the last finial episode of the season yet it seems like there ending the show for sure. It was like so cool to see Matt do well again I didnt really like JD and the whole family abuse thing. Also I thought it was really cool they did one of those reverse plays with Tim passing it and Matt catching it. When Matt moved to reciever I new they should do a play like that.

Yeah, me too. I'm watching it on the Cox reairing, not sure what network. That episode a few weeks back with Smash leaving was fantastic. This season is back on par with season one.

Glad to see it renewed.

How did it end?

SPOILER ALERT- please skip if your are planning to watch season finale..

Dillion High was split into two school, Dillion and East Dillion. After the fallout between Coach Taylor and the freshman's QB's dad, The Freshman's QB's dad convinced the school board to not renew Coach Taylor's contract and instead hire the offensive cordinator/Freshman QB's personal coach as head coach..

Consequently Coach Taylor was offered the job at the new East Dillion high, a run down trashy high school that had been previously closed because of how crappy it was..

The key is before all this went down, the Freshman'd dad had convinced the boosters to redo the lines so all of Dillions star players would remain at Dillion..

It ended with Coach Taylor and his wife standing in the middle of this trashy-run-down football field and in faint writing on a broken down Wall it said "East Dillion Lions" and fades to black...

Perfect indeed! This season was fantastic.

Not too sure about Matt though, I wonder what they have in store for him.

I actually think it would be hard to make another season. Basically everyone has left but Matt and Julie. They only really have Matt, Julie and JD and theres that kid they showed at the end whos house the went to to recruit him.

That sucks

It doesnt suck that bad. They are giving us one more season to close everything up. 5 seasons for this show was a pretty good long run IMO.

Last and final season starts on the 101 Network on October 27, 2010.

Oh, true. I was reading it as there wouldn't be another season but you are right...it's only had 4 so far and DTV picked up 2 seasons.

Just watched the first episode of the last season on Direct TV and was wondering if NBC will also be showing the last season?

agreed - they are doing a real nice job with this season, but it seems like there is still just so much more that they could do ... the characters are just that good

Great ending for a worthy show, no spoilers for those who have yet to watch either the finale or the final season. Lights went out as it existed, with style. Goodnight Dillon, I really enjoyed the time I spent visiting.
