Yeah, if Watson has a legitimate excuse, he might want to get his side of the story out.

Really, what NFL player buys a Dodge Charger? It is one thing to be a jerk, but another to be a jerk over a dodge charger.........

I don't understand why this is the Cardinals or the NFL's problem. Gabe made this deal, while at Michigan...yet, these morons want to make everyone hate his new employer and make them responsible. A load of BS. Gabe just needs to step up and do the right thing.

It's not. They are just doing everything they can to expose Watson. It's not like it should be a big deal to Watson.Just pay the guy the approxiamately 6500 you owe him. In reality, Watson will cost him more than that because the guy's credit rating suffered meaning he'll pay higher interest rates.

...like father like son. Read the article and you will see what I mean. What kind of people do things like this? I gotta' believe there is not too much more to the story either or Channel 2 would have been a bit more open about it.

"The Arizona Cardinals are loaded with nefarious characters these days. They've got womanizing quarterbacks, prostitute-soliciting assistant coaches, and now, a defensive lineman who sticks his old high school coach with his car payments."

Lock up the women and children!!!! The Cardinals have a bunch of thugs working for them. They're even thinking of bringing in a new unknown kicker, Jimmy "The Squirrel" Pisano. OMG!!

The lesson? Never co-sign for someone else's loan.

Hey, at least Gabe didn't just take it as a gift like some college players...

that's my take too, totally irresponsible of Watson, but completely unrelated to the Cards or the NFL, he did this before he'd been drafted.

He needs to make it right though, very crappy thing to do to someone.

I sent this to the reporter.

Hello Mr. Lewis:
I just finished viewing your piece on Gabe Watson and the Michigan teacher he stuck for a 30k car.

Though I feel Watson should pay for his handshake deal, I find it quite curious that you feel the Arizona Cardinals are some how complicit in this.
How is an NFL team responsible for the dealings of a current player's actions BEFORE he ever signed with the club?

The team is in no way responsible and it is NOT their job to get involved in the personal life of their players, especially when the incident occured prior to his employment with the team.

It seems to me, that if you are to hold any institution accountable (though I thing responsiblity rest solely on the shoulders of Gabe Watson) it would be U of M. They are the ones who approved of the deal and allowed a player to make a deal such as this.

Why not ask viewers to contact them? Could it be that by doing that you and your station may hurt your realtionship with the university? Instead of worrying about your company's access, I think you should worry about being fair.

In the end, the only person who should be held accountable is Gabe and--to a lesser extent--the teacher who decided not to put the deal in writing.

Why should the Cardinals answer to you?

An improper benefit to a player at Michigan. NO way. :thud:

Every school in the country has athletes getting things and breaks they shouldn't be getting. It's what the school does or does not do when it finds out that determines if they cheat or not.

It looks like Michigan sold out its integrity in Gabe's case.

Because from a PR perspective it would be the right thing to do. This is already catching on, I saw a piece on it here last night ....

I agree. The Cardinals aren't the problem, but they can easily solve everything by telling Gabe Watson "Fix this".

I heard another version of the story... Something about the car was a lemon and damaged. They went to return it and could not get out of the contract that is why after 5 months he dropped it off back at the dealership. This story is actually somewhat old and I will see if I can find the other side of the story.

It's time to change the rules....start recognizing that the whole "eligibility/loan/money under the table" stuff is not only happening but that it is....well.....only fair.

These schools make so much money off varsity football....time to spread the wealth in "some way shape and form"....and full scholarship by itself, isn't reality.

Some day, if you are a parent and want to send your offspring off to college then tell us a full scholarship, including R & B, meals, health care, etc., is not worth it.
