Punting on 4th and 6 inches was simply quitting on the game and the season. Some sh^t got thrown and broken in my house after that decision. Camera cuts to Fitz shaking his head in disgust walking off the field. Just what every Cards fan needed to see, our star player looking as if he was wondering how the F he got to this point in his career.

Stephens-Howling is a joy to watch play the game every time he steps on the field, D. Washington looks like a real player, Andre Roberts is rapidly improving, and Michael Adams made a nice play on that pick. Otherwise, what an ugly team "effort".

Yep. It's funny because he did well with Josh McCown, Matt Leinart and an average Warner as his QB prior to Whis coming to town. Warner channels his former self and the team tastes success. Fitz loves it.

Now we have DA, who is worse than McCown (imagine that). Fitz is visibly upset. I read his twitter and Facebook posts. He sounds like a man defeated, trying hard to reason the season. Im convinced that the only way this team retains him is to get his two cents about the future of the offense; i.e. new QB, o-line, etc. If he's not impressed, he wont re-sign and we either trade him or lose him to free agency after next season.

This horrendous season is starting to have a domino affect on internal operations. FML

Great post, Mitch.

It's sad for me to say that you are right about this roster. Our cupboards are bare (same with the Suns). Looks like we're back to the same old nonsense that we had been accustomed to over the first, what, 18 years of Arizona football.

Welcome to the era of malaise....

Actually, D-E-I, I think there's plenty of young talent on this roster...the problem is veteran leadership (in their play and in their demeanor)...and the fact that this coaching staff does not seem to command the players' respect.

Whiz is the kind of coach who puts the ownership of the team's fortunes on the players. The players either embrace it, or they don't.

It's time for someone to step up and galvanize this team...

As young as he is...I think the kid who cried on draft day to be selected in the 7th round should be the one to get emotional and bring these players together. He may be the smallest man in the room, but he has the biggest heart and at this point should command the most respect.

I don't see anything from Roberts in the punt return game. NOTHING. When he contributes in his major role, I can't say he is rapidly improving. Not even improving. He appears to move well in open space though. That's about all I can say about him right now.

Great point about Fitz.

Fair enough on Roberts on punt returns, but from the line of scrimmage he appears to run good routes....and once he catches the ball has some serious juking ability. Compared to what we first saw from him in the preseason, I'm very pleased.

...which begs the question, was he consulted on the Leinart/Anderson/whom else to bring in decision? Yes, it goes against the entire concept and foundation of a "team" sport, but we all know the elite athletes are treated differently. If the Cards wind up trading Fitz, we all know it will be for $.50 on the dollar and the organization won't recover for a decade.

Mitch, your right when you say Whis has very little if any credibilty and that was on display last night in embarassing fashion. This team has not responded to him and as I have said things will only get worse. I can't believe one real Cards fan would stand up and support this abortion Whis, Graves and the front office has delivered to us this season. There really is not much left to say except get someone else to judge talent and run the draft because these dolts can't do it. Bring in a new staff with a real OC and DC and have Whis just oversee things until he is gone. Hate having been right and going thru a total rehab rather than just a tweek on both sides of the ball. Gut wrenching is all you can say it was last night. Thanks for putting your time in to the report. It is well done as usual.

Nice writeup Mitch. What I don't understand is Whiz had no problem letting people go that could play. Yet he won't let DA go even though he can't play. I think he just refuses to except that he was wrong about DA and is willing to destroy the season because of it.

I agree to the point about letting the wrong people go. What I don't get about the whole egositical point some are making about Whiz is this.....most egotists I know in business are very protective of their perception by others. I can't imagine Whiz in the catagory of wanting to tank the season or refusing to admit failure, either of those options are not conducive to retaining your self image.

Most I have seen use the tack of quickly finding someone to blame for the problem and then setting themselves up to be the savior when the ship is righted.

Also, no self repecting egotist (joke intended) chooses failure to achieve their ends. They must have others take the fall for them and somehow weasel out of any blame, then be in the cat bird seat when it all comes back together.

I further can't see Whiz wishing any additional misforture on the team as that could only hurt his own future in the NFL

However, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that he put up no fight to retain Haley, or anyone else who could be perceived as a threat to his position
