Okay, after tonight's episode, which was mostly awesome, I have finally found a few WTF moments. I'll put them in spoiler form, but be warned; there may be book spoilers too.

So, WTF was with the killing of the people of the khalasar and the stealing of dragons? Mormont's betrayal wasn't that overt and, since we didn't see Jorah with her, we have to assume that he's stolen the dragons. This will, I assume, bring about the advent of Strong Belwas and the old man. Still, I do not like the direction this is going in the least.

And why in the HELL hasn't Ygritte been telling him 'You know nothing, Jon Snow'? That was always so much fun. Why cut that? Silly, IMO. It takes no time and was good character flavor.

I am not watching the new season yet, but why start changing storylines?? It's not like there wasn't enough excitement and intrigue in the book, FFS.

And "YKNJS" is a common saying in our house right now. We even say it to our kids who have no idea what we are talking about...the other day when my pre-teen was pontificating about something I flipped it into, "ok, you know everything, Jon Snow" and the wife almost cried at that one. Boo on Ygritte not giving her catch line - especially when Red Lady M says it to him in book 5!

Well, Donald, to be fair, it was just the start of that Jon Snow arc.

I bet Ygritte starts saying it in the next episode. Oh, and they made Ygritte hot...as in, super hot :D

While I frown a tiny bit at that digression from the character as described in the book, I also look quite forward to it! :D

You know she's gonna say that soon. And the writers intentionally left it out of this episode to make people like you and me wait a while longer.

Wow. So much for the "the gleaming city of Qarth". It was suppose to be more evolved. LOL. All hell just broke loose. Good episode.

so, were those charred bodies supposed to be the young Stark boys? If so... lame cliffhanger. no way those kids got killed off-screen.

Going from memory of the book and what the scene probably was, I'm guessing yes, Bran and Rickon.

Some things are done in the book better than it sounds like they are being translated to the screen (I've only watched season one thus far). This seems like one of them.

There is no way they are dead. Not like that. Most of the deaths on the show thus far have been well written and with purpose to push the story along. If they were going to kill off the boys my bet is that it would have been much more melodramatic.

as much as I really like this show, it's nowhere near as good as Season 1 was. I love everything with Tyrion, Cercei, Joeffrey's mustache twirling evilness and the Arya/Tywin relationship crackles every time it's on screen, but there just hasn't been enough Robb who's character i really liked by the end of last season, Khaleesi has totally gotten the short drift, Jamie's been pretty much AWOL and I could kind of care less about Jon Snow. That plus the fact that I hate Theon and his reign of stupidity have all kind of left me... i don't know... a little bored this season.

and I just haven't been taken all that much by the new characters... Stanis? Meh. The big black dude who was supposed to be protecting khaleeis? eh.

I love the fact that the books had the balls to kill off Khal Drago, Ned and Robert, but the new characters/emphasis on some lesser characters (Theon in particular) just doesn't have me enraptured like I was last season.

Hopefully it picks up for you toward the end...IIRC, it ends with a flourish. Book Three is my favorite of the series, by far. Chock full of WTF moments.

I would have thought there would be more Robb in Season two, but perhaps it's just him having a larger role in book 3 instead. Reading them, it all kind of rolls together in one big epic...kind of hard to remember when what happened.

If season three is a quarter as good as book three, it will blow your effing minds.

Season 3 and 4 will cover Book 3, so we will be in for 2 solid seasons. Robb is a hard character to put on TV, because as far as I can remember, he never had a POV in the book.

For those that haven't read the books, each chapter is dedicated to a single character and their POV. Their internal monologue drives the narrative of the chapter. But Robb is always an external character. His actions are either witnessed by the other characters or talked about later. For example, in the book, his mom is running all over (like in the TV show) and when she finally gets back to his camp, she hears about everything we are seeing on the screen after the fact. So the writers have a unique challenge in creating entirely new scenes for Robb that were never in the books, and that may be why Robb isn't getting so much screen time. Plus, I think a lot of those scenes would be battles, and those are expensive to film.

I agree Book 2 goes out with a bang and it should start in next week's Episode, which is called 'Blackwater'. This was the episode actually written by the book's author, so I am expecting greatness.

Yeah book 2 was the weakest of the bunch (still good but nothing great). Its a bit cliche with some real throwaway plots - namely dany's.

Book 3 on the other hand will put the world upside down. If you think you know where its going, you are proven wrong.

some weddings to plan, a couple of kings killed and a mother going on a vengeful killing spree - good times

I think the two charred bodies are the two orphans that were sent by Bran to that guys farm.

That was a pretty weak episode this week. For like three weeks you guys have been saying should get good this week. Lol... It's been ok. But that's about it. Only two episodes left in an otherwise dull season.

gotta agree with Shane. It's still good TV, but it's nowhere near the incredible first season, that had jaws dropping constantly.

i do love that Cercei continues to just look like an idiot. even when you think she's got the upper hand on Tyrion, she's still making mistakes.

All my friends who have read the books have constantly told me book 2 was the weakest and that book 3 is where it gets crazy.

Some don't like book 4, but I do.

I agree that book 2 is the weakest. Book three is hands down my favorite..not even close.

I mean hell they couldn't even give us a decent frontal of Rob's love interest. :bang:

HBO is really letting me down.
