Nice to see Sims drive the team down for a TD.

Time for the D to step up and get a stop so the O can try and put some more points on the board.

Nice job by the D and Shipley with a solid return. I like how he catches the ball and then just goes, no dancing around unless that's his only option.

Good things happen when you stay in the pocket, Sims.

Grice drops an easy pass. This does not help his cause.

Oh well, it's only preseason.

We had some youngins step up and look like they will contribute this year. DJ (of 2 Johnsons) and JJ nelson will contribute this year.

I'm thinking the O will put up some very good numbers this year which we will need because the D takes a step back.

Damn that kicker was right down the pipe.

Lambo was 3/3 with all of them down the middle. Dude was good. He probably will be cut in favor of Novak but I know someone will pick him up. Speaking of which, Cat missed a 37 yarder. That better not happen in the regular seasons! :D

Can anyone who watched from home confirm that we had a phantom defensive holding call on us which extended the SD drive and ultimately led to their game-winning field goal (after time expired and the refs then awarded their timeout and added 2 seconds back on the clock...)?

They showed a replay once or twice in the stadium and no one around me saw #36 hold the WR down the field.

Oh well, I guess it's okay to get screwed after a defensive stand if it is only the preseason. I know Arians was asked about the officials after the game too...

There was very little contact on that play & it happened after the ball was in the air so there's no way it could have been defensive holding... it's either a non-call or pass interference (plus the ball was completely uncatchable).

It seemed pretty clear that the refs didn't want the game to go to overtime so the gave the Chargers a chance to win it by throwing that flag. Again, it's pre-season so it's not a huge deal, but they obviously ignored much more blatant pass interferences by the Chargers earlier in the game that had BA going crazy on the sidelines so it was complete BS to throw a flag on a phantom hold at the end of the game.

Also, you're correct that time did expire & then their QB signaled for the timeout... I don't know if their coach called the timeout on the sidelines though.

I was at the game but also just watched on dvr.. there was definitely holding by Roberts on the receiver (he had his jersey), but it happened with the ball in the air. So, it would have been PI and not holding, but PI takes into account if the ball was catchable which it was not. Bad call.

The local announcers are talking about the Cardinals may only keep two QBs. I disagree with this thinking (at least for the Cardinals). Keep Sims if they are iffy about LT.
I think they could very well keep only 2 and put Sims on the practice squad, simply because of the depth of other positions and the caliber of player you will need to cut in order to keep one of them on the 53. But if the pass blocking doesn't improve, I think you need to keep a 3rd.

Thomas was better last week, Sims this week. Wouldn't say one is superior to the other.
This

Sims benefited from working against guys who won't be in the league. They were playing off the ball and a lot of the throws the receivers were wide open.

LT did not impress last night. Looked like he was thinking too much. He was a victim of dropped passes that could have been caught.

The one to 80 was to the wrong side of his body and would have taken a miracle to catch. Surprised he got a hand on it.

The one to Golden just about put him in the hospital. Again - would have taken a miracle to hang onto it while getting slammed.

LT was 0-4. Were the other 2 passes the ones you were referring to as "dropped passes"? Not much of a "victim," IMHO.

He did nothing but hike and hand off the ball for nearly his entire performance last night.

Sims is also playing with guys who won't be in the league.

Also, Sims was a victim of dropped passes that should've been caught last week.

When Logan Thomas comes into the game it is like all the air gets sucked out of the place. Total "Meh." Had a sure scoring drive go nowhere last night.

When Sims comes into the game the place is electric. People are on the edge of their seat wanting to see what the kid does next. So much more excitement in the crowd.

At least that is how it has felt the last two games.

I did say could have been caught. :D Tough passes to catch for sure and the one to Golden he starred him down. But I have seen those kind of balls caught by other players watching other games.

The passes were accurate and not way off target which is what we have been criticizing him for.

I started out saying he didn't impress and I am not saying he looked good in any way.

SK was in the booth during that play and wouldn't commit to whether it was LT's or the TE's (Mo?) fault. Wolf seemed to think MO turned the wrong way coming out of his break but it is still the QB's job to complete the pass.

That throw to Golden was a WR killer and shouldn't have been thrown IMO.

Maybe all that handing off of the ball was because of how the D was playing us and LT was doing a good job of putting us in the right play based on what he saw at the LOS.
