So, in the gameday thread, you posted that you never said we could trade late round picks for good young players, under team control. Yet, here you are… just a couple days ago agreeing with Brit… that… we can trade for good young players under team control for late round picks. Then later in the thread, you doubled down on this rather dubious claim, giving Shenault as your example of the type of players we could get.

but now you don’t even remember making this claim? Seriously, Krango… everything okay over there?
OMG I am arguing something different.

I'm arguing the chances of a 5th round pick becoming a good player. Yes there is a chance to add good young players by trading a 5th round pick.

Either way it doesn't really matter much.

Nope. Never said young. I specifically pointed out I am not concerned about age as long as we get quality play for the life of the deal.

29 year old DT? Happy with a 3 year deal. Should be 3 years left in a good 29 year old.

29 year old CB? Maybe 2 years tops. Unlikely to have 3.

I couldn't care less about age for FA signings.

The same reason why most free agents leave teams. Money. Hell, we had a top 3 player (at their respective position) leave our team and his primary motivation was money.

But using your logic, why would any good free agent have signed with us this offseason if we have been an utter abortion for two straight years?
I feel like some of you are saying:

This offseason: thank gif monti didn’t sign anyone for overpay!

Next offseason: we have to overpay to get quality players because we’ve sucked so much!

I feel that is a pretty good summary, of at least how I feel.

Although I'd have to throw in the fact that we should have a clear direction on how/where to rebuild the team next year, and it depends on what we do with Kyler.

I think you also need to throw in: Would we have had to overpay to get good players this year (2023)? It seems that more money offered to Murphy didn't sway him to stay, so could it also be said for other FA's?

Does anyone here think this is being a jerk? I mean, every HC in the league must be a jerk. What an A-hole, ripping into a player for doing something wrong then realising he might have taken it too far and apologising.

"After he ripped into a player during a meeting this summer, one of his assistants pulled him aside afterward, telling him he crossed the line. Gannon thought about it for a minute, then realized the assistant was right."

2022 K9: Kliff is too soft. Players have no respect for him. The team has no direction or character.

2023 K9: JG shouted at a player. He's a jerk. I'm very concerned.
There’s likely a difference between yelling at a player and having to have an assistant tell you that you crossed a line. Crossing a line is something that really doesn’t, and shouldn’t, happen frequently or there wouldn’t a “line.”

Would you have traded Tune for Dobbs?

Crossing the "line" is very different from person to person, or group to group.

Asking an Afghani about his wife is crossing the line. I bet crossing the line for a Jesuit Catholic is very different than crossing the line for a guy like me or maybe you.

The Cardinals will have over $60 million in cap space in 2024, with only Hollywood as a guy from the roster to spend it on.

It would literally violate the CBA not to spend most of it.
Not more than this year. More than you think those players are worth on the market. Overpaying.

Eh no...but I'm probably overrating Tune at this point.

Your average 5th rounder is a Lecitus Smith type player who makes your roster one year and is cut after training camp the next. Meh.
So you wouldn’t trade our 5th from last year for a rental of dobbs.

Many on this board thought Lecitus could be our center of the future last year.

In this case the assistant and gannon recognized he crossed the line. That’s two people.

And he didn't make the roster this year.

Now you understand the value of a 5th round pick.

You're welcome, feel free to leave a tip if you like.

Lol. You just admitted you would t have traded our 5th for dobbs. Just because you’ve got a name to the pick and some subpar film from preseason games. I don’t think you understand how your response won me the argument.

Bro arguing about 5th round picks is like arguing over penny stocks. This is ridiculously dumb, I'm done with it.

Well, this is all the same group: NFL football people. Not sure what point you think you were making here.

Ouchie isn’t saying JG was out of line; one of JG’s juniors did.

No actually JG said it.

I read your comment about damning article on Gannon after I had read the article and I went back to see if there was something else. It's funny how bias can taint people's views.

I think ultimately Gannon will fail like most of the other coaches of this moribund franchise, but a sliver of an anecdote isn't very meaningful.

Oh golly gee whiz, he admitted a mistake. The horror!

TBF you made a big deal about a "concerning Athletic article" and him "being a jerk". He's right about the bias.

And it turned out it was single incident where he shouted at a player, an assistant said "Maybe it was a bit much" and he said "You're right, sorry dude".

Something he felt so comfortable with he mentioned it himself in an interview.

What an A hole he is.

Mountain out of a mole hill.

Pray tell what was said.
Man you sure are ignoring a LOT of molehills. Do you get tired typing that over and over and over? Don’t those molehills grow one on top of another?

Don’t look now frog, but each of those degrees you’ve been ignoring has become a boiling pot . . . aaaaaaaaand . . . you’re dead.

bias? I have no opinion on gannon other than I think he’s sounded goofy in some sound bytes, seems fired up and enthusiastic, and from one game: has a hard hitting defense, and a somewhat undisciplined team (penalties). That’s it. That’s my bias.
