There is a blurb about Memphis considering Pau Gasol, Shane Battier for Curry, #3 and Eddie Robinson.

That isn't even close to working under the cap I think.

But it is pretty similiar to the Marion for Curry, #3 and Robinson or Pippen trade.
Use #3 to pick Ben Gordon. Use #7 to get rid of Eisley and the Cavs pick to get rid of White.

Which is the part of that package that is supposed to appeal to the Suns? Curry hasn't shown anything, and the difference between the #3 and #7 picks in this draft won't be that great.

on top of that they would have to take Robinson and Pippen. Slin, that is a terrible trade idea.

BTW, the #3 draft pick this year might not be enough to get rid of Howard Eiseley's contract.

Have another cup of coffee. Slin. Curry is a horrible fit for the Suns even it he improves. He is not a running center.

Curry reminds me too much of Joe Barry Carroll. Great talent and terrible attitude. They used call him "Joe Barely Cares".

What is a running center please?

Curry has one of the best combinations of size and athleticism (Size speaking height, strength and weight).

He has tremendous upside and might just need a change to take better advantage of it.

Remember what happened to Ron Artest and Brad Miller when they got out of Chicago.
Even Trenton Hassell and Fred Hoiberg.

Not that it means much, but the HoopsHype profile for Curry describes him:

"Could develop into a dominant big man...full of strength and agility...very polished offensive game...Should grab more rebounds...Not a great defenisve player...Lacks concentration...Conditioning is an issue...Foul prone."

In other words, just like JB Carroll. JB was a very good offensive player, but all he wanted to do was score. He didn't want to rebound or play tough defense. With Curry, Skiles complained during the season that the newpapers would get excited about Curry's scoring rather than talk about his defense and rebounds.

You could make the case that Amare is not very good defensively either. But no one doubts that Amare is driven to become a great player. Most people have serious doubts that Curry is driven to become a top player.

One other thought, Curry is listed at 285. I don't see him running up and down the court much at that size. The Suns had a talented center with a weight problem in the 90's. "If only Oliver would get into shape"...

I doubt the Phoenix Suns have any interest in Eddy Curry unless it was a trade that was just too good to pass. If they are going after a center whose strength is offense with questions about his defense they would want someone who can knock down a jump shot with consistency. Curry's jump shot is OK out to about 10-12 feet. That's about it. Now if the Suns could get Chandler without breaking the bank I would be much more excited about him even despite his back trouble.

Chandler is scheduled to get $4.8 million this coming season. He would be an RFA the following season at $6.3 million.

It's not out the question that Bulls might give him up for the Cleveland pick since it would give them some cap space to go after free agents. Right now they are worse off than if they they were above the cap since they are at $41 million.

Chandler has never been healthy and is listed at only 235 pounds. I'm not sure if he is physically suited to become a center, but that is the only scenerio that would make sense.

The issue is simple enough. How much do you gamble for one year for a guy who could become star but is more likely to end up on IR?

Chandler seems like a young Camby. I like his game and think it would mesh well with Amare. His injury history means that we cannot break the bank for him.

Yeah, after their games against each other, I can see how you'd think he'd "mesh" with Amare.

Chandler has been haunted by Amare ever since Amare entered the league. Even his own teammates asked why he wasn't producing like Amare was. It certainly led to some spirited competition whenever they met.

I guess they could get over that rivalry thing, but it would take work.

Unless he gets into shape and learns to play hard all the time, he might not even beat out Lampe next season. Lampe might end up starting if he learns to play better on the defensive end and is much bigger offensive threat than Curry. To beat Lampe, Curry would have to do what he didn't do in Chicago - get in shape, work hard, and play defense.

The Chicago papers say the Bulls are unhappy that Curry has not begun regular workouts yet. They don't want to have to trade him, but if they do it will be because they think he will never work hard enough to be any good.

You are crazy if you believe that.

Curry is the best young center outside of Yao or maybe Kwame.

Which is why Skiles benched him early in the season.

Curry scores which is why people like him. But the rest of his game is inadequate. He played 29.5 minutes per game and average 6.2 rpg. Joel Przybilla played only 20.4 minutes a game and averaged 6.5 rpg.

Yes Curry can score. So what. Lampe is gold from 15 feet and would have scored a lot more if he played more and got the ball. It's defense and rebounding that counts and even Jake Voskuhl had more rebounds per minute than Curry.

Lampe would have scored a lot more if he had a few seasons with a bunch of playing time in Chicago, too.

Okay, you've convinced me. Curry is the best young center outside of Yao, Brown, Lampe, and Voskuhl.

Yeah Kwame this guy is a solid player, very good post defender, very young and only Garnett might be more athletic at 7' or more.

You know, slin, you should get a job with ESPN--you overrate every player you ever see.

And you believe everything you read in the media about Kwame Brown. :hairraise:

He is easily a better center than anything the Suns have and a better prospect too.

Please name a better center prospect than Curry or Brown other than Yao. I am waiting.

Come on, slinslin. It's not the "media" that tells us that Brown still isn't a consistent force on a bad Wizards team, went through periods of losing minutes to Etan Thomas, and utterly failed to have a breakout year even though Michael Jordan was allegedly holding him back during his first two season.

Brown might be a good player someday, but it's not looking like it. And from what I've seen on television, I think even his listing of 6' 11" is generous. Maybe he's the second-best "young center prospect" out there, but that's not saying much, it seems.
