Clay Matthews almost looked like an extra blocker on Fitz's huge play. Didn't even try to make a tackle - even though he had speed and an angle on Fitz. He looked like a spectator on that play. That's going to look really good in the film room...

Clay was completely out of position on that 75 yard completion. Probably feels a bit embarrassed. Makes sense to hear him pout like that.

Green Bay is a class organization with class players...just like the Cardinals are. They were bounced out of the playoffs two years in a row in OT in games they should have won. If they are bitter and want to complain they have every right to. Let them have it, we would all be complaining today too if that game went the other way. The officiating sucked on both sides and both teams failed to put the game away when they had chances.

How many of us in here are still stung and complain about the SBXLIII loss?
Why should GB have won yesterday? If they felt cheated by the OT rules then they should have gone for 2 after the TD.

Because they dominated both lines of scrimmages and should have blown the Cardinals out. The cards got extraordinary lucky yesterday.

Rogers apparently also complained about the coin flip

He felt like he should have had the opportunity to call it again prior to the second coin toss

Of course, he is saying he would have called "heads" the second time.

Yeah cuz the cardinals are the ones who needed two Hail Marys to tie the game with no time left.

Yeah well if the Packers fully exploited their opportunities they wouldn't have needed to. That's my point. That game could have gotten away from Arizona and quickly, a point which has been made by many in here. The Cards won, so whatever.

Why should they have won both of those games?

That's a ridiculous assertion.

Honestly, I think the rule should be changed too, and wouldn't have been mad at all if BA or a prominent Cardinal would have said something to the effect of "These are the rules and we are happy with the win, but the rule should be revisited going forward and each team should have the opportunity to have the ball."

To have the team that lost complain about the rule just sounds like sour grapes.. but if the team that wins says something it might resonate more with the fans/league.

The rules are fine it's better than losing to a fg. It's ridiculous that it's even a topic would they rather it be the old way and we line up and kick a fg to beat them on the second play? You wanna blame someone blame your D that let Larry thrash you for 75 yards idiots!

Probably player safety comes into account.

If I'm the Packers I am frustrated because this is twice now that the Cards have beat them in the playoffs in OT.

Kinda funny typing this but we own the Packers at this time.

+1

Complaining smacks of 'everyone gets a trophy.'

If the packers had gotten a pick six on the opening drive does that mean our defense should get a chance to score too?

If the packers dont like it maybe they shouldn't have left one of the best receivers ever WIDE OPEN. So open that there wasn't another player on the screen when he caught the ball. So open that there wasn't another player within 10 yards of him.

This was sent from my cell pjone so please excise any typeos or other errors.

If Green Bay wanted to be sure the ball was in Aaron Rodgers hands to decide the game then they should have gone for two after the TD. They knew the OT rules when they chose to kick the XP and take their chances there.

Agreed. Once the Packers lost Cobb, it was going to be a tall order for them to win that game without Nelson, Cobb, Adams, and Montgomery at WR. They might have still lost going for two, but if you are the road underdog I think that might be your best chance in most cases. I think the Packer defense was wearing down in the 4th quarter too as the offense was not converting as many first downs. That is another reason why I would have rather gone for two instead of counting on a tiring defense and a depleted WR group in overtime. Oh well. Great game though. Good luck next week.

Lost a lot of respect for Rodgers and Matthews, crying about overtime rules?

Really?

I've watched the catch and run by Larry about 3 dozen times, Matthews was in perfect position to tackle Fitz, and he took his foot off the gas, If you want a scapegoat for this loss, go look in the mirror.

this.

Would they also complain if we scored, then they scored, then we scored and won? Should they get another try again? would they prefer no sudden death ever? How about they get to play us again, best of 3? when does it end?

I think this is a really good point. Look at the college national championship playoff. They have a four team playoff, and now it is teams #5,6, etc. whining about they deserve to be in the playoff. At some point you decide on the rules and you play the game.

The Cards won according to the rules, so I don't mean this to devalue anything, but I don't really understand why scoring a TD on the first offensive possession should be a walk-off. I know the league and teams want to get the players off the field, but the odds of both teams going back-and-forth with multiple TDs is pretty slim.

I liked sudden death and still do. This is still somewhat sudden death it just prevents you from scoring a quick FG and winning. Perfectly fine with this rule.

It's a compromise the NFL came up with a few years ago. It used to be if a game went into overtime, it was "sudden death". First team to score any kind of points won the game.

The rationale was, defense was just as important as offense and if you couldn't stop another team's offense, you didn't deserve to win.

Well, there was enough complaining about that that they changed the rules. Now, if your defense can just hold them to a field goal your team gets a chance with the ball.

But now that isn't good enough apparently.
