He will Def. be gone by #7... We need to bite the freaking bullet and trade up!

Like Duck says with this team its 5-11 with them and 5-11 without them. So we will never be in a draft position to get the best QB EVER! Gonna have to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

And...

Bradley, General Manager Dave Caldwell, Vice President Information Technology and Analytics Tony Khan, offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch and Director of Player Personnel Terry McDonough all attended the workout with Bradley reportedly spending about 90 minutes with Smith breaking down video afterward

There's a greater chance that the Niners go 0-18 than the Cardinals trading up to get Geno. You know that to be true Shane. I'm not sure what you see in the guy, as I've watched him well over a dozen times & was never in awe. Best ever???? Really??

Bidwill has said that we will no longer reach for players. If he is gone, (and we wanted him), I'm sure that we will have a plan B, even if it means that we will take another player, OL, Pass Rusher, etc., and will continue to build this roster, just as Denny Green built the roster that Kurt Warner felt he could take to the SB. When we do, some smart, talented, franchise QB will want to sign here just like Warner did when he came here.

I didnt call him the best ever. Said this team will NEVER be in the position to draft the best QB in the draft EVER! 5-11 isn't going to cut it.We never suck bad enough. So bite the bullet and trade what you must ala Washington and and get the best QB in the draft! I also never said we would trade up only that we SHOULD!

You don't like Geno? Good for you. I do as well as many others including many NFL experts and NFL brass. Thats why he wont make it to #7. ;)

[Was 0-3 against Syracuse as a starter & was intercepted twice in all 3 games. Added defensive pressure was the reason why Smith sruggled. He completed 45% of his passes & had 3 interceptions when the Orange sent 5 or more rushers.

WVU averaged 203.8 yds AFTER the catch per game, including 85.5 yds AFTER the catch on screen plays. Tavon Austin led all receivers with 491 yds after the catch. When blitzed against Syracuse & K-State, Geno was 2-23 on throws over 15 yds. Yards/attempt- 2.5 yds. Yds per game -29. On passes over 15 yds against K-State, he was 0-5 with 2 ints. K-State didn't do anything unusual, they just let Smith throw short dinks & they TACKLED.

Smith played in a gimmicky offense @ WVU, which doesn't translate to success at the next level. He doesn't have the elusive abilities of Wilson or burning speed of Kaepernick. He struggles with progressions when under duress. I don't want this guy at 7 & I certainly wouldn't trade up for him either.

I want a QB just like everyone else does, but NOT this guy.

when the guy is a true legitimate star QB in this league we shall see! ;)

Shane, I probably agree with you 95% of the time & you may very well be right about Geno's NFL career. I guess it's unfortunate for me that I had to personally witness the ugliest of his college performances. I never once saw the great QB's of the past, and I saw almost all of them, look as bad as Geno did against defenses that pressured him. He feasted on a lot of below average defenses & yet was below average himself when truly tested.

If BA goes that route, I'll support the move 100%. But I'm still skeptical.

You want to get deked by Eagles again? The Eagles are showing all this interest for the exact reason of trying to get someone to trade up, overdraft, and reach for Smith. Call their bluff and let them take him.

????

How so ?

I may not agree with taking Geno Smith at #7, or with trading up to get him but it is not a crazy idea. Not by a long shot. The Cardinals need a QB and there is a chance that Geno Smith may be the "the guy". That is not too crazy, IMO, not in the least.

I like that Shane is backing his pick! Rock on.

We need to luck into a franchise QB we are never gonna be bad enough to draft one. Even with current roster we can win 5 games.

Most teams do.

Very rare to have Aaron Rogers follow Brett Farve, or Steve Young to follow Joe Montana, or (to be seen) Andrew Luck to followPeyton Manning.

I believe with the exception of Brady all the leagues franchise QBs were first round picks.

Why would you say that this team would NEVER be in the position to draft the best QB in the draft? We had both Mannings served to us on a platter & blew the opportunity both times. We all now understand that you can't win without a franchise QB. The Cardinals need to realize that you don't win meaningless games when you're in the position to draft "no doubt" HOF QB's. There was absolutely no doubt what we had with the Mannings, yet our moron organization found a way to miss out in both situations.

Geno is NOT A REACH!
He wouldn't necessarily be a reach for the Eagles because his unique skill-set better fits Kelly's offensive approach.

But for the Cards (who'd have to trade up???), yeah, it would be a reach.

PS - Using all-cap words doesn't make you any righter.

PPS Webmeister, I understand that the site needs money to survive, but that green banner at the bottom for the movie trailer is really annoying for a bald old guy from NJ with fat thumbs - when I attempt to scroll down on my I-Pad, I invariably hit the banner by mistake and launch the movie video. Then - when I click the "X" to close the video, I'm taken back to the topic index and have to start the process all over again. Help!

:DI say let's start Skelton all year and then draft Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater. Great plan if there ever was one.

You have to go after Geno. I wouldn't go as far as trading up, but he has to be your number 1 if he's on the table. Otherwise, we go Warmack and beef up the line. If we can show that we're no joke of an offensive line, we'll be more enticing to FA QBs.

Either way we're not losing out on this pick.

I agree with your line of thinking. My worst fear is the Cardinals go chasing after a quarterback early in the draft.
