Babby: "We know we are in transition. It's not as if we had unreal expectations." But brass expected the #Suns to contend for the playoffs.

Suns brass is delusional if they expected to contend for the playoffs.

I never knew how much I could hate something I loved for so long. I miss Jerry so much.

As a retail leader, you set the tone for your entire organization. Using this logic, Saver is still showing all of us that he is the biggest gutter snake in pro sports.

If Beasley had actually worked out, we'd easily be competing for the 8th spot.

And if only Brown had played like Jordan we could have too. Beasley HAS worked out exactly as he should have been expected to.

Their expectations of being a playoff contender were stupid, their expectations of Beasley being a "star" were so out of touch with reality that they should lose their jobs over it.

This is GREAT news. We'll turn this thing around and make a great playoff run in 2017!

Exactly! Unless Gentry brought in Beasley they fired the wrong guy.

And...? Hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think it's a stretch that the organization thought Beasley would become a star with us.

And I don't think anybody, not even the front office, thought Brown was going to be their equivalent of Michael Jordan. Only Shannon Brown himself thinks that.

When will this guy ever learn to shut his mouth?

Once again overreacting to Gortat. Players lobby for coaches all the time. Nothing wrong with it.

Dear Lord if they did think that about Beasley....just more justification to get rid of this FO.

Really? You don't think thats a stretch? Maybe they thought he'd be a serviceable starter but if they had any thought of him being a "Star" or even near All Star level player, they know less about Basketball than I thought they do.

They made it a point to talk about he would be our go-to guy and take over games--the star player Dragic needed to be successful. How can anyone NOT remember that?? Quotes about it were plastered everywhere.

That's why Phrazbit was so uppity against the signing in the first place!

Thats not hindsight at all!!! You know perfectly well how awful I told everyone Beasley would be. Virtually ever team in the league avoided Beasley like the plague.

My point with Brown was expecting Beasley to be a star was as realistic as expecting Brown to be one. It goes against what EVERY shred of evidence points to.

Smart front offices go out of their way to AVOID getting a team killing scrub like Beasley, ours was stupid enough to make him their top priority. They should absolutely be fired over this and that is NOT hindsight. Anyone who followed Beasley's career should have seen this coming and its absolutely inexcusable that the paid professionals in our front office were slack-jaw stupid enough to think Beasley was a "star".

Yeah? Give us examples of players who lobby for coaches outside of the organisation hours after their head coach was fired , not to mention on twitter instead of behind closed doors.

Not to mention after it was already announced they would promote someone from the staff for the rest of the season.

Gortat is a ******* that is all.

Exactly. The suns rolled the dice on Beasley but to think there was more than a remote chance he could develop into more than a starter is absurd. It would be like hitting the lottery if Beasley had become a "star."

Blanks deserved to go instead (or with Gentry) by any measuring stick I know.

I remember it, that doesn't mean I ever thought: 1. They were correct or 2. They were being honest.

I figured that was BS they were trying to sell to the fans to sell tickets.

Its going to take us 24-48 hours to decide who to make the interim coach... despite us hiring internally? Isnt that the kind of thing you should have had in mind before you axe the guy who currently has the job? Has it ever happened where a team took several days to name an INTERIM coach?

Talk about a microcosm of everything wrong with our front office. No plan, no direction, just a bunch of reactionary idiots who do things for virtually no rhyme or reason.

This is the most interesting and hidden part of the story... that there was a discussion with Gentry by the Suns FO last night and the decision to fire him was only made today. The Suns next game is not until 1-23-13. I think the Suns tried to sneak Gentry's firing into the news blitz about the Cardinals signing Arians without a plan in place for an interim HC.

Well, #1, that was your opinion at the time, and #2, there's nothing that says they were lying--why lie? Sign this guy to a multi-million dollar contract and then lie about his impact on the team?

There's no question Blanks is dumber than a box of rocks, but there is no reason to sign a guy and then intentionally lie about him being a positive addition. That's ridiculous.

Wouldn't this be enough reason to lie?

Selling tickets/getting fans excited is "no reason"? I'm not following you.

Teams always blow sunshine up the butts of their fans, promote their own players even if they're not as good as such promotion would deserve, etc.

What else were the Suns to do? Sign him and say "well he's been pretty lousy, and we expect him to be lousy too, but we have to get to the NBA salary floor, so we thought we'd roll the dice on the small chance he works out."??

I mean, thats probably closer to the actual truth, but I can't imagine any NBA team being that honest.

I like Gentry a lot, and I think he did the best he could with the pile of crap that was handed to him. On the list of top ten things wrong with the Suns, Gentry was probably number nine.

I hope Turner or Kokoskov get a chance to coach.

If the Suns expected him to be lousy why did they show up at his door at midnight when free agency started? If they follow your reasoning, why did they sign him in the first place? It certainly wasn't some underhanded plan to get a good draft pick because we know from day one they wanted to get to the playoffs.

Yes, teams "blow sunshine", but in this case it makes no sense. Perhaps after the season starts and he had a handful of bad games they were when they said that he'll get better. But to think that they expected THIS out of him when they signed him and then lied about it is insanity. They aren't liars, they're just terrible at recognizing talent.
