Who cares who shot first? I don't get how it supposedly has some dramatic effect on the character of Han Solo, don't get why Lucas messed with it but also don't get why it gets so many fans up in arms. Bottom line is Greedo is dead.
I am a huge Star Wars fan too...from video games, to DVRing The Clone Wars cartoon, to reading nearly every book that comes out.

It changes Han's moral ambiguity. He goes from the outlaw with no morals only looking after himself to a guy with a conscience thus making his transformation from anti-hero to hero much less dramatic.
Shooting a bounty hunter first makes his morals more questionable? It doesn't change the fact that he is a smuggler and does jobs for a crime lord.
What a bunch of psycho babble hooey.
The changes by Lucas make even less sense. Greedo is a hired gun yet he can't hit a sitting target from just a couple feet away when he has the draw on him? Lame. Seriously - he shoots from that close and misses and Han shoots back?
You can criticize the work all you want. It's the personal attacks that blow me away.
seriously... the idea that Greedo shoots first and not only misses... but misses by a COUNTRY MILE while sitting right in front of Solo is ridiculous.
It is called being a celebrity.
He only gets hundreds of millions of dollars to deal with it.
No sympathy for the man, and his whining about people picking on him.
This is not a 4th grade lunch period and there are no lunch ladies for Lucas to tell on the big men critics and fans about.
I guess he will just have to take solace in his billions.
Lucas actually answers that question ("How could you miss from so close?") in the edited Blu-Ray edition.
Skip to 0:46 for the, yet again, edited cantina showdown.

IMO, it would have been better had Lucas altered the scene so they shoot at the same time. That could account for Greedo's shot going askew.
That's what Lucas did for the Blu-Ray release version. They now shoot simultaneously.
...he thinks he's a genius...
~snip~
The third, and worst? His killing off the actual movie. Star Wars is a piece of cinematic history. In my mind, it is probably the most ground breaking science fiction film ever made. It is such a classic that the movie, along with the next two, made Lucas big enough to be as ******* as he's been all these years....
That, and this little known fact:

Well, finally took the plunge and watched Star Wars again. Only this time, the Blu-Ray version.
I spotted another change...

OK BIM What am I missing other than he sounds like he sucked helium??
The control panel gets off a shot at Han first
