George Lucas Blames 'Star Wars' Critics for Killing Series

Fox will move heaven and earth to get whomever ends up controlling the Lucas entity to make more movies. There's no other film franchise like it on the planet. It's like owning the Beatles catalog.

It's not the same. The studio doesn't stand to make the cash windfall as the distributor of the film. Owning The Beatles catalog is the equivalent of Lucas film owning Star Wars not Fox distributing the film. Now if Fox had the rights I would agree with you.

Remember that Lucas Film almost went with Universal to distribute but out of nostalgia picked Fox. Fox has no more pull than any other group wishing to distribute the film.
