Auburn makes its first visit to Foley Field since 2021 this weekend to play a Georgia baseball team coming off an SEC road series sweep at Florida.
The No. 12 Tigers were picked to finish 12th in the conference, but won its first two series against Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
The No. 3 Bulldogs enter the weekend leading the nation in home runs with 74. Ryland Zaborowski and Robbie Burnett rank No. 1 and No. 2 nationally in that category.
They are part of a team that has scored 10 or more runs 13 times this year.
“It’s awesome to see what we’ve done all season,” said second baseman Christian Adams, who hit his first three homers of the season in the Florida series.
Georgia (25-2, 5-1 SEC) will try to build on strong starting pitching performances in Gainesville from Brian Curley and Leighton Finley.
Auburn (20-5, 4-2) went just 8-22 in the SEC last season but has improved under 10th-year coach Butch Thompson.
The Tigers are led by preseason All-SEC picks Ike Irish (.351, 5 HR, 20 RBI) and Cooper McMurray (.362, 7 HR, 25 RBI).
“Man, I’ll tell you what, they are offensive, man,” Georgia coach Wes Johnson said. “God, they can hit. I’m really, really impressed with them on video. I think they’re feeding off that and then he’s got his pitching staff….you look at what he’s done, he’s thrown a lot of guys for six outs, eight, nine, 10, 11 outs and they’re out of the game.”
Georgia baseball vs. Auburn will be streamed on Friday and Sunday on SEC Network+, which is available to anyone with a TV or streaming service that has access to SEC Network. That includes Fubo, which offers a free trial to new subscribers. Saturday's game will air on the SEC Network.
