Ok so far today...

Carolina is losing 17-0:(
Detroit is tied with Green Bay 0-0 and Rodgers is done for the rest of the game
Buffalo is winning 10-6
Cincy is losing 10-7 at halftime

Everyone has a chance to win except Carolina. That is the best we can hope for right now.

Detroit wins & Buffalo wins.

We now have the 3rd pick #1 Carolina, #2 Cincy and then our beloved AZ Cardinals

You guys really think Carolina will beat ATL and PIT??? Dreaming is free...I am stoked that this team is guaranteed either Peterson, Amukamara and Quinn though.

Carolina isn't winning their next 2 games. We have a shot at #2

The only chance we had at the #1 pick was down the tubes when we won last week...I am not complaining though. I enjoyed watching us win. Please front office don't screw this pick up.

Carolina might stay with Clausen if he plays well, maybe we just made him look good though.

Same. I don't mind us losing the first pick as I think that Luck is going back to school.

If I had to guess right now, we're probably taking the best pass rusher available.

wow. looks like everything is playing out perfectly for the cards to get the first pick. oh wait, we won a meaningless game last week, so that won't happen.

if atlanta wins this week there is likely no reason for them to play starters that final week. carolina could pick up the cheese win. cincy already has the single win that we would have needed.

amazing. we could have actually gotten the #1 pick. all the chips have fallen in favor of that probability except our anomalous win over the broncos.

btw, our team really sucks.

Honest question: If you knew that Luck was going back to school would you still want it?

I'm just asking because a lot of people are saying we might miss on him even though it looks like he wants to go back.

honest answer: no

it's easy for him to say he wants to stay right now. but i think a confluence of factors will force him into the draft. i believe there's a strong possibility that harbaugh will leave for greener pastures. stanford had an unreal season, it'll be difficult for a non-football-machine school like stanford to repeat that success. there's a TON more cheddar being selected 1st in the draft that at any other position. no matter how much a kid loves football, they are a fool to pass up the chance to be the #1 overall selection in the draft. that's just lost money. the most recent qb to do so lost a ton in the exchange, dropping from reportedly being considered a lock for #1 to #10 (that's right, our very own matty). so, for the CHANCE to draft luck i'd have been happy ending up with the #1 overall. but that's a pipedream now. now we'll have to settle for #3 or #4 and have to greatly overpay a corner or subpar passrusher (don't see any peppers or mario williams out there).

Where is Harbaugh going? There really aren't any major college programs that need coaching (ie Notre Dame last season) that have an opening and in the NFL, he might not get a chance due to a variety of reasons (Interim coaches keep winning, other teams that will have coaching vacancies are notoriously cheap, fears from owners over taking college coach to pro level).

Don't get me wrong I think Harbaugh will be gone and be gone soon but I just don't see it this offseason which is all that matters for Luck. I think they're going to go for it one more time.

As for money it appears its not that big of a deal to him or at least his parents as they are loaded and want him to go back. There are have been instances where people have gone back to school even though they were the sure #1 pick such as Peyton Manning.

On the topic of pass rushers, Quinn in terms of pure talent is way up there. His problem is that he took gifts from an agent and hasn't been eligible to play this year. The kid was ridiculous last year. If the red flags can be overlooked, he's worthy of going that high

Lions, Bills, Panthers, Cincy win.

We beat Denver.

Good thing too! I mean 4-12 I can live with. That is a totally awesome record. 3-13 I could not handle at all. Thats why these games are so "important".

Fact is the worst team gets the top pick to have better odds to improve their team. Fact is we are the worst team in the NFL and dont get the top pick. Same as 03.

We are the champions at winning meaningless games.

That would be perfectly Cardinal. To have lost out finished 3-13 gained the #1 pick and then have Luck stay in school.

FWIW Harbaughs' brother, the Ravens coach, came out the other day and said he thinks Jim is staying at Stanford or at least wants to.

"I think he wants to stay at Stanford, I think he’d love to stay there, but then again, you just have to see what happens. He’s not the kind of guy that’s going to make any kind of commitment until he’s ready to make a commitment. I think his commitment right now is having a baby and winning the Orange Bowl. So, we’ll see what happens."

Not exactly a he's not leaving statement obviously but it does seem like if Harbaugh stays, Luck will play one more year which is what I'd been hearing all along.

Of course that just means if you want Luck then we have to suck even worse next season, or trade for it and the best chip we would have would be THIS years pick, which we of course need to use for next season.

I understand wanting the first pick, but it would have been REALLY hard to lose to Denver. They were flat out horrid that day.

There's absolutely no reason to return to school if you're going to be the #1 overall draft pick. I'm not saying he won't return, but it'd be stupid. Just look at Locker and Leinart and what going back did for them.

Both Mannings went back when they were considered top picks though. Peyton was pretty much the consensus #1 pick and had already graduated yet returned to school because he wanted to compete for a Heisman (which he finished 2nd to Woodson) and a Nat'l Championship (which Tenn fell short but won the year after he left). I'd say Luck is much closer to the Mannings then Locker (especially Locker) or Leinart.

Each of our QB's won one game this year at least.

Maybe they don't likey us drafting a QB?

It's a conspiracy..... :)

For all those people who think Matt would of sucked worse, then it was still a crappy idea to get rid of him, maybe he goes winless and then the other two win their obligatory mop up one game and we're at two wins with a chance at the title?

We could very well end up with #3 and one of those teams ahead of us will likely not take a QB. A very real concern is that teams in need of a good QB will be offering all kinds of deals to move into #1 or #2. We should be one of those teams. It is very unlikely we will be in such a good position in some years. The gurus do not think Cincy will take a QB. If we are tied with Buffalo who goes first? They are a better team than their record. We are a worse team than our record. I do not think they go for a QB. We will have a shot at one of the top three as I do not think we can win either of the last two games.
