Have to be honest, I usually cringe every time I hear a show is being produced by Syfy. I will check it out.

I have not forgotten about BSG which is my problem. They prematurely ended BSG and took a shift towards pumping out B movie crap as a focus while complaining about budget.

That show ended how long ago? What of equal quality has come out of that channel?

I've heard, but not experienced, several recent SyFy shows that were well-received. The Expanse, Wynonna Earp, Blood Drive and especially Dark Matter have been acclaimed.

I tried watching three of those but each I just couldn't keep watching for various reasons. I might try again but none of them kept my attention for long.

I tried Wynonna Earp and I have Blood Drive, but hasn't stuck out to me either. But not because of poor b-movie production value. Wynonna Earp was just joyless and Blood Drive sounds way over-the-top for my current sensibilities.

My issue isn't necessarily things like the FX for example (although some of Syfy shows are not that great there either) but some of the writing is so so bad. I found the same issue with Wynonna that you did and with the other shows there were just multiple episodes that felt so cheesey from a writing perspective.

syfy is definitely a crap shoot,..fortunately I am a fan of cheesy syfy,lol...
I love Killjoys and Dark Matter.... like the Expanse but it just hasnt hooked me in.... Blood Drive is too grindhouse for me
